10. The Court

It felt uncanny. Jungkook knew he was going to have to do this, one day or another. But in the circumstances, he felt like a foreigner at a place he’d always felt foreign already.
He sighed, pacing around the long hallway as he waited for everyone else to come in, Seokjin being the first one.

“Jungkook? Is it…is it true?” The entity’s voice made him feel a weird grief.
A type he couldn’t quite explain.
“It…it is, Seokjin.” He walked to him, putting his hands on his shoulders. He felt the surges of pain from the other entity, and he sighed again. “You know I don’t fit, don’t you?”

Seokjin didn’t know how to feel. What would the court decide? Would they really let him go? How would he cope with losing his best friend?

“Why did you…why did you not tell me, first?”
“I didn’t know I would end up saying it, Seokjin; I swear, I didn’t know.” He insisted, eyes wilted, chest tightened.
“I’ll miss you if they send you.” Seokjin replied, looking at the boy with so much adoration it made him cry. “I’ll really miss you.”
“I’m sorry.”
“You don’t have to be, Jungkook.” The entity looked at him, somewhat hesitantly, now. They’d always told each other they could ask each other anything. But this was something that hadn’t had happened in millennia. He didn’t know how to put it.
“Jungkook…I just…want to ask you this.” He looked down, and Jungkook hummed, looking directly at him when he looked up again. “Is there any chance that…the mortal…he’s involved with this? You leaving from here?”

To be fair, the question had caught the young deity off guard. He hadn’t thought of it at all. Was it? Did he really want to do this for Jimin only?

He didn’t know.

All he was thinking before was his life, wasn’t it? But wasn’t Jimin who had made him want to go back, anyway? He stared at Seokjin blankly, not being able to say anything. And what
could he say, anyway?

“I…I don’t know…”
“Jungkook, you know you can tell me it, don’t you?” Seokjin replied, voice reassuring.

What if he said yes? Would they rule it out? He wanted a life, it was true. But he wanted to be with Jimin too. Due to the untagged, unidentified, foreign feeling he felt towards him. He wanted to live, but with him.

He opened his humanoid lips to speak, when a heavier voice sounded from the doors, from an entity in heavy robes, and many more followed the entity, including Vita, Mortemis, and the rest of his friends.

“Obscuratus, the fourth son of the mortal.” The entity took a seat. “You may present what you have to say.”
From the earth’s sky, the moon’s rouge veil lifted.
