Dior Saudiah Brewster
"What's wrong with you? Fuck you been walking around mopping?" I heard my father said walking into the living room. "She miss India." Easton said for me. "So FaceTime her." He said in a Duh tone."I've tried that and she hasn't answered." I said looking at the conversation between me and India. I had been texting her all week and no response. She was suppose to come to American Dream and never showed up. She wasn't even in school which is definitely not like her. The last time I actually saw her was the night we went out. "I haven't spoken to her since the whole party thing." I said.
"Well you know Covid numbers rising again maybe she sick.Ain't her mom a nurse?" My father said.
"That's what I told her." Easton said as I shook my head. I knew India and sick or not we spoke to each other. We had never gone without speaking to each other for more then twenty four hours even when she spent the summer in Lebanon with her grandmother.
"No! India has never not spoken to me and my messages are all delivering!" I shouted getting annoyed. "So go to her house and see if she's okay." My dad said. "But mom said i can't go out." I told him as he sucked his teeth. I was still on punishment for sneaking downtown and using a fake I.D. "Let's go. Easton you better not say shit." My father said causing me to chuckle a little as we walked out the living room going to the garage.
"Can we get Wendy's too I'm tired of mommy's cooking." I said as my father looked at me. "What's wrong with my wife cooking? Her shit better than some bum ass Wendy's." My father said making me laugh. "I'm sick of home cooked meals." I whined as he shook his head. "You kids so damn spoiled. You know when I was coming up niggas wished they had moms to cook for them?" He said as I nodded my head.
"Yes yes dad I know back in the days you and mommy were less fortunate. But you guys over came that and had some bomb ass kids." I said smiling as he chuckled. "You hurry up. You go in see she's okay then you come back. We need to be back in the house before your mom wakes up." He said as I chuckled a lil bit. It's so funny no matter how tough my father asked he was definitely scared of my mother and it showed.
Getting out the car I walked up to India door knocking on it gently. "Who's at the door Baby!" I heard India's familiar voice which angered me because she sounded perfectly fine which mean she was purposely ignoring me. "Dior?" Armani said sounding surprised I was at the door. "Eh hi is India here?" I asked and he nodded his head stepping to the side.
"Who was at the door?" India asked again coming towards the door as she stopped in her tracks. "Dior what are you doing here?" She asked sounding shocked. "I was worried about you but you seem perfectly find." I said with a little attitude.
"Mommy your missing the show!" I heard then a little girl came towards the door where we were all standing. "Elijah go back in the living room with grandma." Armani said as the little girl stood there walking around grabbing India's hand. "Ma come on!" The little girl said again as I looked up at India.
"Mom?" I asked confused. "Um Dior I think you should go home." Armani said breaking the silence as I stood there confused. "No." India finally said as she bent down looking at the little girl. "Remember when I told you how you have the same name as your auntie?" India said and there girl put her hand on her chin. "Elijah Diwor." She said and India nodded her head.
"That's her." India said pointing at me. "So that's my auntie? The little girl asked causing me to finally look in the little girls face shocked as I watched India nod her head and wipe her eyes as if she was crying. Looking at Armani he had his head down. "India what do you mean she's my niece?" I asked looking at the little girl. She was beautiful.
"Remember when I spent the summer in Lebanon?" She said and I nodded my head not understanding what that had to do with anything. "I had Elijah that summer." She said as I was shocked. "So this is Easton's baby?" I asked shocked and India nodded her head. I didn't know how to feel. My best friend had a baby four years ago and didn't tell me. And it's my brothers baby.
"Um I'm going to go." I said shocked grabbing the door knob. "Bye auntie." The girl said as I hurriedly left the house running to my dads car. "You good?" He asked and I shook my head no. "Easton has a baby." I whispered still in shocked.
"The fuck are you talking about?" My dad asked as I pointed towards India's house. "She she had a baby. India was pregnant and it's Easton's baby." I said still trying to put the pieces together in my head. "How could how could she hide this from us?" I asked feeling myself get upset. "How do you know it's Easton's baby?" He asked.
"Dad she has your whole face down to the eyebrows!" I said as he looked at me. "So your serious?" He asked and I took a deep breath looking at me. "Go look for your self!" I said annoyed he thought I was lying.
"Get out the car." My dad said opening his side of the door closing it walking up to the door. Taking a deep breath I followed behind him waiting for someone to open the door. "Mr.Brewster?" India said sounding surprised as I step behind him. "Sorry." I mumbled as she just looked at me and shook her head moving to the side allowing us to walk in.
"Your mom here?" My dad asked and she shook her head. "No." She said.
