Chapter 1 - A New Beginning

Author's note: In this version Renesmee's accelerated growth has paused when she looks about 1.5 years old, and she now is growing at a normal pace. Thank you and hope you like it :)

Bella's POV:

Everyone rejoiced as at last, we were going to be safe. I held Renesmee in my arms and waited for the non-existant tears to roll down my cheeks.
"Nessie Nessie Nessie!" I proclaimed.

I sat onto Nessie's bed, reading her favourite story to her, while she played with a lock of my hair.
"Mommy?" Renesmee said.
"Yes honey?"
"When can I get to meet grandma Renee?"
"We'll see." I quickly made up, how I wished this day wouldn't arrive so soon.

Not long after Renesmee's eyes fluttered to a close I went to search for my husband.
"Hey Edward?"
"Mhm?" He was busy reading a biology book Carlisle gave him.
"Renesmee asked me about my mom, I didn't really know what to tell her, but it made me think and I think we should meet up. I mean I haven't seen the poor woman for almost two years, I know she has Phil, but I just can't help but worry about her." I went on.

I could see that Edward was contemplating my suggestion. "Yes, it will be nice for Renesmee to meet her other grandmother."

Early next morning I went to call my mother before Renesmee woke up. I nervously dialed my mother's number and listened to the dialing tone. When the dialing tone rang 5 times a shocked voice picked up.
"Bella? Bella!" Renee managed to choke out.
"Hi mom it's me, Bella. Listen, I know I should have called you sooner and you probably think I'm the worst daughter ever but-"
"Honey don't be ridiculous, I know you must have been too distracted being newlywed and all that." My mother cut me off.
"That isn't a good enough excuse still. Listen mom, why don't you come down to Forks, and we can meet up again?"
"Why? Are there things going on with you and Edward?"
"No no no I promise I am happier than I've ever been, I just want to see you again." I reassured my mom.
"Okie dokie then, here I come!"

I went back to Renesmee's room, where I saw she was stirring, and Edward moved a curl out of her face.
"Good morning beautiful" I told my little girl
"Morning mama and papa" Her expanded vocabulary still takes me by surprise being she looks only a year and a half old, but her adorable lisp reminds me she is just a baby.
"Listen honey your father and I have to tell you something."
Renesmee raised a sleepy eyebrow and looked at us."What is it?"
"Tomorrow you will meet your other grandma, grandma Renee." Edward told our daughter.
"Like my name!" Renesmee said with glee.
"Yes exactly!" I said with the same happiness
"Listen Renesmee, grandma Renee is human like grandpa Charlie, so you can't use your gift on her either and you have to eat human food if you get hungry while she's visiting." Edward told Nessie.
She made a face and crossed her little arms which was so cute that it made me tickle her until she laughed out loud in joy. Edward then joined in, we were one crazy family.

Later as we walked up to the Cullen house Rosalie was first to greet us as she stole Renesmee from my arms "Hey beautiful! What outfit shall we pick for today?" Rosalie said with a coo.
"Pink!" Renesmee exclaimed
"You take on after your aunt Alice, come on let's find a pink outfit."
She glided up the stairs with Renesmee in her arms.
"Morning guys." I said
"Sup Bells" Emmett said seemingly absentmindedly as he was watching a baseball game with Jasper, as I didn't know if it was possible for vampires to be distracted.
"Good morning" Alice, Esme and Jasper said in unison.
"Bella and I have to tell you something" Edward said
The four other vampires looked in our direction.

"You're not pregnant again are you?" Emmet said with mock worry

"Very funny" I spat back "As I was saying, my mother Renee is coming to visit tomorrow."
"Oh how wonderful!" Esme exclaimed
"Yes! Another excuse to decorate the house and order everyone around." Alice said excitedly walking out of the living room.
Everyone chuckled as Esme said, " I better start planning on what to cook." and jogged into the kitchen talking to herself.

Rosalie then came down the stairs a half hour later with Renesmee who was dressed in the cutest pink outfit I had ever seen! Her copper curls were styled and defined and were topped with the cutest flower headband. "Awww Nessie! Come here! Aunt Rose really does spoil you doesn't she?" I reached for my baby and kissed her on the head, so did Edward.
"Gets her beauty from her mother that's for sure." he said before he booped her on the nose and put his arm around my waist.
Rosalie then spoke, "I heard what you said, and I am going to be stealing Nessie for a while to go clothes shopping for tomorrow, not on my watch will my niece be anything but perfection for her grandmother to see."
"Fine by me" I said, "but Jacob was going to go with her tomorrow to the playground so I'm afraid he'll have to come with you, unless you'd prefer to have to deal with his rage." I said with a grin on my face.
Rosalie looked furious but sighed and said, "well if the imprintee doesn't mind then I guess I could live with it."

The day of the visit

"Places everyone!" Alice said as Edward said he could hear Renee's  ear-splitting thoughts. Renesmee was looking if possible, cuter than yesterday, with a denim dungaree and a green shirt underneath and her curls were slicked up into pigtails with two daisies topping them. Edward and I were in the front of the crowd, while I was getting more anxious by the second, Esme was holding Renesmee who was holding Carlisle's hand for support. We heard a car engine shut off, and exactly 37.63 seconds later the doorbell rang, and I looked at Esme who nodded and smiled at me, probably as an 'ok' to go open the door.

I reached for the door and twisted the handle, and I was then enveloped in a bone crushing hug (for a human.) I needed to remember to hold my breath and to focus on other scents except the scent of my mother's, out of the fear I might accidentally lose control.

I hugged my mother gently but firmly, as I was scared I might accidentally break a rib or her spine.
As she pulled away I could see her tear stained face and felt like crying too, although that would be impossible.
"Hi mom" I managed to say without my voice breaking.
"Oh Bella how has the time flown! You've changed so much! Look at you, you're a grown woman now! And Edward, still so young and handsome! Esme! Carlisle! How are you-?"
Renee stopped dead as she contemplated the little girl in Esme's arms. Renesmee looked as if she was about to cry and made grabbing gestures at me.
"Mama!" she whined
I went to grab her as she clutched onto me and Renee gasped. She calculated what she had just seen for a couple seconds and then smiled.
"Oh sweetie I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you! What's your name lovely?"

"I'm Renesmee" she said from behind my hair.
Renee seemed to realise what my daughter's name meant and she shed another tear.
"Oh gosh you didn't! You have such a pretty name angel. Bella, why didn't you tell me you had a baby?"
Renee looked slightly hurt.
"Uhm, we adopted Renesmee a few months ago, when Edwards brother and sister-in-law died in a car crash."
"That's true, when I was adopted by Esme and Carlisle I had no idea of my brother, so we were quite shocked to hear the news of his and his wife's passing. But then they brought up Renesmee and we fell in love with her the moment we saw her, so we decided to adopt her." Edward said looking at Renesmee with a wide grin.

Renee awed at Renesmee's beauty, until Esme proclaimed, "Breakfast is ready!" and we all went to eat. Yuck. Human food. I hope we don't have to explain anything we shouldn't.
