Another day far away from my home...

Another day less to return home...

Another day filled with my tears and pleas to let me go...

Another day with scared shrieks...

You see, the Devildom isn't my home. It isn't even my realm to begin with. And neither are the Celestial Realm nor the human world my home.

There are more realms than anybody would know to exist, like mine.

But I guess, I need to elaborate a little bit more...

Once my people had been summoned to other worlds regularly.

But one day in the past, our elders sealed the gigantic fountain which had served as our portal and which had sucked in whoever had been close to it during one of those summons.

It was never opened again...

Every following generation of my kind was told about the reasons for this sealing.

Be it that their parents or grandparents told them or that they went to read the chronicles of our ancestors which spoke of all the atrocities they had been forced to perform.

For a long time nothing changed. The fountain remained sealed and at some point we started to forget about its purpose. We were too busy with ourselves...

Our society had split itself into several social ranks and the lower you were ranked, the worse your life was.

And yes, I was ranked the lowest of the lowest, I was scum.

No... I was less than scum...

In comparison to all those other shadows I was weak, a small slip of darkness, easy to extinguish whenever they would deem it funny to get rid of me.

Maybe my weakness was the reason for why I couldn't escape the suction of the fountain when its seal surprisingly broke.

Everybody else found something to hold on to, and whoever didn't find anything was grabbed by helpful hands.

Everybody, except for me...

Sacrifice the scum to safe all the others – I regretted to have left my 'home' this day...

After what felt like an eternity of being pushed around I had found myself sprawled out on the ground.

My head had been spinning, and I had felt nauseous, my whole body had ached in pain from being summoned for the first time of my life.

Yet, I didn't understand what had happened to me.

"Did it work?" A man's voice had startled me and had torn me out of my daze.

For the first time since I had arrived at this unknown place I had dared to look around.

For starters I had looked at the ground. It wasn't the usual dusty ground of my world. Instead it looked like it was made of solid stone of some sort I couldn't recognise.

Afterwards I had dared to look around further. The sharp outlines of the big room, the bright colours, the flickering lights of candles, and the strong scents of unknown things had scared me.

But what had frightened me the most had been the three men present.

A black-haired scowling man, a red-haired grinning man, and a green-haired reading man. All with sharp outlined and colourful bodies...
