After Eric left, Lexi sat there on the picnic table for awhile, trying to sort through her thoughts. Finally, realizing she was not going to come to any sort of conclusion right now, she trudged back towards the school, determined to put all of this out of her mind. After going by the office to get a pass, she head to the bathroom. She is already late and it is the middle of second period, so delaying it a bit longer won't matter. As she is coming out of one of the stalls, she sees Jade standing there with her arms crossed. Her expression is more hateful than normal. She sneers at Lexi, actually hissing as she says "You just have to have everything don't you?"
Blinking, taken back at the venom in her tone, Lexi is surprised , I knew she didn't like me, but this was far more hate than she had ever shown before, she thinks to herself. Holding head up high as she brushes past Jade towards the sink, she calmly says. " I'm sure I don't know what you are taking about."
Jade grabs her arm and spins her back to face her, her long, perfectly painted nails digging into Lexi's esh. " Don't play stupid with me, Alexia. You knew I liked Erik, and you had to come and steal him away. I am sick and tired of you getting everything. It's my turn to have what I want. You stay away from him or else." Her face is contorted into an ugly, almost evil expression as she speaks.
Unnerved by the hate radiating off her, but not wanting her to see it, Lexi slowly pulls her arm out of Jades clutches. Coolly, she retorts " Erik is his own person. He can do as he wishes. Jealousy looks ugly on you, Jade. Maybe try a different look." Brushing past her, Lexi heads towards the door. Just as she is walking out, she hears Jade whisper "You will regret that, you have no idea who you are messing with."
The emotions radiating off Jade are so strong it is alarming. They are so intense, ugly and all aimed at her. Shaking it off, she head towards class, shooting a text to Emma and Cass that we need to powwow at lunch. They respond quickly, confirming. She tries her best to focus on her classes until then, but fails miserably. Lunch period finally rolls around and Lexi heads to their table, where they both are already waiting for her . She desperately wants to tell them everything, but she knows she can't. Instead, she fill them in as best she can, leaving out anything having to do with immortals, witches, spells or anything of the sort.
When she tell them about meeting Dante and our instant attraction, she worry what they will think. Without all the details that are having to be left out, it makes her sound shallow. She shouldn't have worried though. Emma, being Emma, just swoons and say "Oh, of course he has a gorgeous older brother!"
Cass just meets Lexi's eyes and reaches over and gives her hand a reassuring squeeze. When their hands touch, Cass's eyes widen, but she doesn't say anything. Lexi wonders what just happened, but she is distracted by Emma's babbling.
"Well, Lexi, tell us more. Why did you and Erik run off this morning?"
She shrugs, knowing she can't tell them the real reason why and gives a half truth " We just wanted to talk, since he was out of town this weekend." She pauses and take a deep breath "What I really wanted to tell you about was Jade." Lexi continues on and relays what happened in the bathroom, including the jealousy and actual hate she felt coming from Jade. Remembering it, she gets chills and rubs her arms, trying to comfort herself.
Emma's indignation is clear "Oh that bitch! She better watch herself."
Cass looks at Emma with an smile, then look to Lexi and nods. "Ignore her." Is all she says.
She regards them both, and is usual my heart fills with love for them both. They are both so different, and yet complement each other perfectly. Grasping both their hands, Lexi says "I love you both"
They both look at her, worried by her uncharacteristic show of affection. They squeeze her hands and chime in together "Love you too." Just then, the lunch bell rings. Emma heads off to her class and Cass and Lexi to study hall. Lexi is not looking forward to it, as Jade is in that period also, but Cass loops her arm through hers, showing her support. Feeling better, they head that way.As Cass walks toward study hall, with Lexi by her side, she is distracted. When she touched Lexi's hand at lunch, she got a sense of danger and darkness. Images of a cave, with a beautiful spring flashed through her mind. These kind of images have been happening more and more lately. I don't know what's going on, but it worries me, Cass ponders. Maybe she should ask her mom. Although mom will probably think she is crazy. Mom may tinker around with herbs and such, making herbal remedies. Cass once found a creepy looking book buried in her moms closet once, but when she asked her about it, her mom just laughed it off. "That is just an old family heirloom" she had replied. " Our ancestors had fancied themselves witches."
