Erik headed into school on Monday morning, wondering how the day would go. He hadn't spoken to Lexi since she left the dance Saturday night. Hearing what she said to Jade was a bit unusual. Not that Jade didn't deserve it, the girl could be as catty as they come, but he had assumed Lexi to be sweet and kind, not only from his own experience but from others thoughts. Although, he could recall a few people thoughts from the first day, saying she could be snobbish and standoffish. Perhaps what they were interrupting as standoffish was really the deliberate, calm fire she exhibited at the dance. Something about her had reminded him of Dante just for a moment. Calculating and determined. Shaking it off, Erik headed to first period. As he entered, he saw Lexi had already arrived, she waved at him, smiling brilliantly and gestures for him to sit by her.
As he headed towards her, he glanced out of the corner of his eye at Jade, she was almost glowing. Taken aback, he sent a tendril of his power to catch a glimpse of her mind. All he received back was silence, like a barrier or a wall was there. Trying harder, he still couldn't pick up anything. Odd, he thought to himself. As he sat down, his thoughts were distracted by Lexi as she squeezed his arm and asked how the rest of his weekend went. " Pretty good and you?" He asked. Lexi licked her lips, and then her teeth gently biting on her bottom lips for a moment, replied "It was fine." He barely heard her, he was so distracted by the sight of what she was doing with her mouth. Pull it together, he chastised himself. Not what you are here for. Nodding, he turned around as the bell rang, trying to appear to pay attention, but it was no use with her right beside him.Lexi headed to cheer practice that same day, smiling gleefully to herself. Her plan seemed to be working pretty well. All boys were really the same, she thought to herself, smile at them, bat your eyes. Erik maybe a little harder to get through, but she was affecting him she could tell, and Lexi always gets what she wants. Jogging over to meet Emma and Cass, she deliberately ignored the looks Jade was casting her way, acting as if she didn't exist. She had tried to be nice to Jade, but if that was the way she wanted to play it, fine. As they ran through warm ups and routines, Lexi's mind kept returning to Erik. He was mysterious, which she liked and a bit of a challenge, which definitely made him more appealing. Before she knew it cheer practice was over. Wiping the sweat from the back of her neck, she turned to Cass and Emma " Want to go to the diner and grab some food, hang out?" They both nodded and they all headed that way, Emma riding with Cass and Lexi following in her car.
Once they have arrived and are seated around the table together waiting for their food, Emma pipes up "Lexi, you have had that look in your eye all day and at lunch Erik kept gazing at you, your not about to devour the poor guy are you?" Lexi laughed " No, I am not a maneater."
Cass and Emma just exchanged amused grins, causing all three of them to burst into laughter. Lexi wasn't a man eater, but she did always manage to her what she wanted, no matter what. Becoming serious all the sudden, Lexi says " I do want Erik though, and I do plan on getting him." She shrugged, just stating a fact.
Cass nodded and Emma sighed " He is dreamy." Lexi rolled her eyes good naturedly. "Go find your own Em."
Just then, none other than Erik walked in. Scanning the diner, his eyes rested on the girls and he waved. Emma, ever exuberant, almost fell out of her chair, gesturing for him to join them. Lexi rolled her eyes at her "Smooth, Em. Real smooth." Emma just grinned back at her as Erik headed over. "Hello" he said, taking a seat at their table. Soon, all four of them were engaged in conversation, laughing and joking. Lexi noticed that Erik gaze kept resting on her and also Cass. This I'm didn't make her jealous, because when he looked at Cass, he looked more confused than anything, like she was a puzzle he couldn't quite work out. Not like the way he looked at Lexi, like he couldn't get enough of her. Her phone chimed and looking at it, she groaned "I got to go, Mom needs me."
She got up and headed out, waving goodbye to them. Erik's stayed and ate with them, keeping up conversation but his disappoint was obvious to Emma and without thinking, she said "Would you like Lexi's cell phone number? She not much for phone calls, but she likes texting."
Erik smiled and nodded. Emma jotted it down on a napkin before they parted ways.
