Erets Pov

I ducked and swerved around low hanging branches and bundles of spiraling vines. The smell of mildew strong in my nostrils as I wandered throughout the long since abandoned building.

I'd come in search of a simple map that'd be located in a cartography book. A treasure map of course. Growing up my mother would always tell me stories of brave adventurers setting out on a quest for this little map. All because of the greed humans possessed since birth. A map that'd lead anyone who could get their hands on it to a unbelievable stash of wealth.

This idea appealed for obvious reasons.

The library was stashed away in the castle of a long since passed monarch and his court. The castle itself over run with plants and nearly caving in on itself everytime ⟟ took a step. Just going up the stairs was enough to make me want to turn back. But if this map was real it'd worth a little mud on my boots.

" Still... this is pretty annoying. "

I grunted with disgust as I examined my mud caked heel, turning yet another corner into a large room. It seemed to be a green room judging by all the flora here, despite the fact the entire mansion was coated in plants. The ceiling was made of thick glass that was cracked in more than one place. There was bits of light shining through those cracks, making the dust settling in the air seem more magical than gross. I tracked further into the room, just out of curiosity, and generally liking the kind of cozy vibes I got from it.

There were small pools of water in emptied pots that ⟟ assumed plants used to be in. Most of which were broken in half or cracked. The glass was tinted yellowish from grime and made translucent rather than transparent. I stepped around varying objects on the ground, debris from the roof caving in after time and even bones at some point.. which was discouraging to say the least.

As I continued throughout the area however I found a large looking statue. An expensive one at that. It looked out of place in such a rustic area, and looked to be about the only thing that's been taken care of. It was a large figure of a sleeping man, curled up uncomfortably in this less than adequately sized room coated to the length of the statue.

Perhaps it was some form of god to these people?

The skin of the statue was a brilliant gold that shone amber in the setting suns lighting. The clothing, pretty revealing if you thought about how modest these people were long ago. Peaking from behind a shark shaped hood there were tufts of golden hair. They seemed soft for a statue. If ⟟ could break off even a finger from this thing i could sell it and get enough money to be set for life.

I marched towards the hand of the giant build, confident in my ability to break pure gold about three times bigger than me, and wrapped my hands around the tip of his thumb. As I began to pull however I noticed how malleable the gold felt. It was soft and cushiony, like real skin. It stretched as well. Could they have achieved this effect back then? Was it some kind of red stone? As ⟟ continued pulling however I felt increasingly scared. Like something was judging me.

I turned my head towards the burning stare I'd been feeling, only to be met with two large emerald eyes, staring back intently at me.

" AHH- "

" AHH! "

I stumbled back in shock, a startled scream erupting from me which in turn seemed to make the creature, that was very obviously not a statue, scream as well. Stumbling backwards and losing my balance, i kind of plopped onto my tushy, just watching in terror as the golden man lifted himself up from his sleeping position.

" WHO ARE YOU?! "

I blurted. He seemed offended by this.

" Who am I? Who are you?! You came into my house an woke me up! "

He pouted at me, crossing his arms like a child trying to get his point across. He sat criss cross infront of me, his front half leant down as large green eyes stared into my very being.

I shifted under the weight of his gaze, twiddling with my fingers in my lap and readjusting my legs to a more comfortable position.

" I'm Eret... I came here looking for some map or something. "

His ears perked at this, puppy like expression filling with curiosity.

" Are you an adventurer? It's been a while since I've encountered one of those! "

Large hands scooped beneath me, lifting me at least eleven feet off the ground and up to what would be his eye level. He tossed me like a ragdoll to his left hand, using his right to poke and prod at my body like ⟟ was a toy being inspected for sale. Making sure ⟟ was functional. I slapped his finger when it got to close to my crotch however, making him feel back with a curious look.

" You could say that... "

I muttered, feeling his large fingers fiddle with various parts of me. When it got to my hair however i couldn't help but chuckle at his cluelessness. He'd twiddle bits of it gently between two fingers, feeling it's softness. Amusement was spread across his golden face.

" You like brunettes or something?~ "

He nodded excitedly... which wasn't exactly what ⟟ expected to be frank. Whenever ⟟ teased someone generally they'd scoff or just laugh, some would even flirt back, but he just agreed and continued to toy with my brown curls. For such a intimidating figure.. and general vibe at first.. he just acts like a kid. I coughed at the awkward silence making him look away from my hair he'd taken between his fingers once again.

" ..So what's your name?- "

His eyes showed recognition at this and he slightly pulled away from me, still smiling meanwhile.

" Foolish! Man humans are so small. And so soft. "

Foolish.. an ironic name for someone as goofy as he is. For the rest of the day he continued on to prod at me and question me on what it was like to be human, which ⟟ tried to answer to the best of my ability when someone is poking at your sides with a finger the length of your body. In return though he barely answered my questions, instead getting distracted by my hair or my clothing. I came searching for treasure and found a man made from solid gold... ironic.
