i ran downstairs to where my brother and dad were sitting; joining them on the couch to the olympics playing on tv
i didn't want to bombard them and start up a meaningless argument, so i waited a minute or two before bringing up vinnie
"soooooo," i finally spoke up breaking the silence
"uh oh she wants something," naasir crossed his arms putting on a serious expression
my dad shook his head and motioned for me to continue
"i've been talking and hanging out with this boy-," i started
"nope," naasir interrupted
"can you let me finish for once??" i replied harshly
surprisingly, he backed down but kept his gaze intense
"i wanted you guys to meet him today since things between him and i are getting more serious," i finished looking at my dad for a reaction
"clearly he's gonna have to answer a couple questions but by all means bring him over here," he smiled
i internally cheered and thanked god for having a non-strict dad
