Chapter 1- Finding Hope

(Percy's pov)
She's dead? How did this happen?! How could I let this happen?! She said she was pissed and heartbroken and needed space, but why would she go into the forest?! She didn't even arm herself! Agh, Annabeth! Why! Just because I couldn't be your boyfriend anymore doesn't mean I didn't care about you! Oh Gods, I've got to get away from all this blood it's starting to make me sick!
I get up and run out of the forest, right into Nico! He looks really out of breath.
"Sorry! A_are you ok?!" I ask while helping him up. He nods and explains he was actually looking for me. I nod and follow him to the stables to sit down.
"Percy... I know that this is not the best time, but Hades just informed me that he has another daughter who is 14 almost 15 and he would like us to check on her. Will you go with me?" Nico asked with his head down. I notice how he doesn't say my dad, he just says Hades. I start wondering what this girl will be like until I notice Nico looking at me funny.
"I would just take Will but he is tending to... Uh... Her body..." Nico says when I don't answer. I just nod and walk over to Blackjack and swing my leg over him and motion for Nico to get on. He looks kind of nervous but gets on anyways. I ask him where to and he says St. Louis MO. I nod and tell Blackjack.
We fly for about an hour and a half before a beautiful arch comes into view. We fly to her address and land Blackjack behind some bushes. I ask Nico where she might be and he says he has no clue. So I walk up with Nico and knock on the front door. A boy who looks to be about 10 opens the door.
"Who are you?" The little boy asks.
"Hi, I'm Nico and I go to school with your sister and I was wondering if she was home at the moment?" Nico asks politely. The boy shakes his head and explains that she is down the street at the nature park a couple of blocks back. We nod and say thank you. He shuts the door and we go get Blackjack and fly to this park.
We land and hop off looking around for a girl. We finally find her sitting in a tree. She regards us with a icy stare and a tight mouth.
"I'm guessing my dad sent you?" The girl says dryly. We nod and she continues,"Well ok, I'm Phoebe and I plan on staying at home from the rest of the school year. My dad has trained me well so I can defend myself pretty well and I have transportation." Nico looks to shocked to speak and so I'm forced to explain.
"Listen, uh Phoebe, you can't possibly wait till you're down with this school year! It is to dangerous!" I say attempting to stay calm. She just laughs. She jumps out of the tree and dive rolls to a standing position right in front on me. She pulls a ponytail off of her wrist and flicks it into the air. As it is falling back down it turns into a Stygian iron sword almost identical to Nico's. She twirled it in her hand skillfully smirking like the bad ass she looks like. She was a simple girl. She had beautiful shoulder length dirty blonde hair which was very odd for a child of Hades and light tan skin, also very odd for a child of Hades. The only thing that seemed Hades-ish was her dark brown eyes with light brown flecks and her fashion sense. She wore a pair of tight black yoga pants, and black tank top, and a black sports jacket. She seemed very content in front of two highly advanced demigods. She looks down at the earth briefly and whispered dark storm into it. I was starting to think that this girl had hit her head when I dark shadow hovered over me. I turned my head and my jaw dropped clear to the ground. Standing behind me was a huge obsidian black horse that looked like it wanted to eat my head off. I attempted to communicate with it but it went something like this....
[hi! I'm Percy!]
{I will eat you if you try to touch me.}
[uh...ok I guess we have an understanding?]
{grunt}
Yeah so clearly this horse didn't like people. Phoebe suddenly walked forward and reached her hand out to his muzzle. I inwardly cringed knowing he would probably bite her hand off. The horse rushed his large head forward and nuzzled into her hand and she cooed at him. Nico looked equally as shocked that she seemed to know this horse.
"Dad gave it to me when I was born and Dark Storm here is my protector and my bestfriend. He lives in the underworld unless I call on him or I'm in trouble." She states calmly like there isn't a thing I'm the world creepy about her horse. Nico suddenly smiles.
"Hi I'm Nico and I'm a child of Hades too! I'm 15 years old and very impressed by you." Nico says smiling. She smiles back slightly and they start to chat away and by the time we are heading back to CHB she has one of Leo's new gadgets called a message board that allows her to communicate with us demigods. We say she can stay for the rest of the school year if that is what she wishes and we are off leaving her and her horse alone in the park once more.
