Chapter 4

Safehouse, Missouri

Gabriel was woken up by a bang on the wall.

"Alright kid, we're here." Stark told him.

"H-Huh? Where is 'here' exactly?" asked Gabriel, still half asleep.

"We're about to find out, come on get up." Tony spoke. Gabriel started getting up and stretched before jogging to catch up with Tony. They were in a the middle of nowhere, green grass stretched for miles on end and before them stood a large two-story home. They walked up the stairs.

"What is this place?" asked Thor, perhaps unimpressed by the simpleness of it all.

"Safehouse." Tony answered.

"Let's hope." Barton said, opening the door and letting everyone in.

"Honey? I'm home." Barton asked.

A woman rounded the corner and looked at them.

"Company, sorry I didn't call ahead." Clint said before kissing her and giving her a quick hug.

"This is an agent of some kind." Tony joked, incredulous at the idea that someone could like Clint.

"Gentlemen, this is Laura." Clint introduced his girlfriend.

"I know all your names." Laura said, before looking at Gabriel, trying to remember if she knew him.

"Clint probably didn't tell you about the kid, we just picked him up yesterday." Tony explained, noticing Laura's apparent confusion.

"Hi, I'm Gabriel Maximoff." Gabriel said, adding a little wave.

The sound of footsteps could begin to be heard as Clint's daughter and son ran up to him to hug him.

"These are... smaller agents." Tony said, incurring a smirk and a weak elbow from Gabriel.

"Did you bring auntie Nat?" the girl asked her father.

"Why don't you hug her and find out?" Nat said as she ran up to her and hugged the little girl.

"Sorry for barging in on you." Cap said, ever-so-polite.

"Yeah, we would've called ahead, but we were busy having no idea that you existed." Stark said, making Gabriel roll his eyes.

"Yeah well, Fury helped me set this up when I joined. He kept it off SHIELD's files, and I'd like to keep it that way." Clint answered calmly.

"I figure it's a good place to lay low." he finished.

Thor accidentally stepped on some Legos and walked out the house, Steve following after him. Gabriel could hear their voices talking outside faintly before a loud whooshing noise could be heard. Rogers walked back in alone.

"See? You worried for nothing. Can't even feel the difference, can you?" Clint told Laura as she felt his stomach where he had been healed by doctor Cho. Laura pulled his shirt back down and spoke.

"If they're sleeping here, some of them are going to double up."

"Yeah, that's not gonna sell." Clint chuckled.

"What about Nat and doctor Banner? How long has that been going on?" Laura asked Barton.

"Has what?" Clint asked jokingly.

"You are so cute." Laura said, laughing.

"Nat and... Banner?" Clint continued.

"I'll explain when you're older, Hawkeye." Laura said, holding a little doll.
