Youngjo felt his heartbeat fastening and eyes opening. His whole body awakened along with his minds. He breathed slowly and proceeded to look around the place; it was dark and quiet, probably nighttime. He saw the bright and beautiful moon peeking inside the house from the big window in the living room, throwing a shade of gray-white light on the sleeping bundle of three. It was where Youngjo's eyes moved next, first towards his legs where laid Hwanjo; the girl had wrapped one of her hands around his leg while the other hand one laid on Hwanwoong's, her breaths deep and calm. Youngjo had always liked watching her sleep, it was a state where nobody could hurt her or make her feel miserable, and he knew she would never let such things as nightmares visit her, she was too wise and powerful for those. A content smile slowly painted itself on the man's lips as he continued thinking, his thoughts filling his heart with love.
A sudden soft breath interrupted his view on Hwanjo, and he turned his head just to sink more into his loving thoughts because of the sight next to him.
Hwanwoong was lying close to him, hands moved to support slightly on Youngjo's chest. His small figure was under the older's arm, the guarding moonlight covering him along with shadows like the lightest blanket. Youngjo let his eyes slide over the blonde's features; eyelids under what he knew were resting the prettiest eyes, blue as the sky; thin pink lips that let his lovely laugh and sincere words be heard - and, Youngjo remembered the way they had gifted him the softest kiss when they were baptised by Hwanjo to be princes for a game a while ago; cheeks like the most gentle bed for his eyelashes; his shoulders, tiny arms; hips, legs pulled close to his body. So innocent, almost ethereal.
Youngjo made himself more comfortable, leveling himself down to the same eye level with the boy and let himself sink into thoughts.
A frown.
It had always fascinated Youngjo how people lived with their emotions and feelings. Throughout his whole life, he had tried - and sometimes even succeeded - to understand many things around him. Things that also included trying to unlock people's thoughts, but he never really got to the full answer of what was actually going on upstairs. He was a very observant and clever person who could read everyone around him well, but with Hwanwoong...he couldn't. Almost as if something was blocking his way. He didn't like it. This was the person looking after his daughter every day, he wanted, he must know what kind of a person they are. But no matter how hard he tried, he never got past the surface.
But what if it isn't just a surface, a facade? What if he is actually like this? Kind, pure, caring and...beautiful?
Youngjo had a hard time believing any of this. He had never met a person who would've not had other, darker intentions below the surface, the picture of themselves they were showing to others. It was usually half - if not completely - fake.
Even though most of his own thoughts were making him worried, the more Youngjo kept thinking, the more his mistrust started to fade. There was just something about Hwanwoong that made him feel safe, his heart was calm every time he saw Hwanjo with him, something at the back of his head was telling him that it's okay, that Hwanwoong isn't a bad person. Moreover, it wasn't just his head, it was his heart too. Youngjo could feel it look up at him and smile in his chest whenever he looked at the babysitter and his little treasure together. It made him feel like home. It really did.
He sighed deeply, not understanding his feelings. That's why he had asked Hyungu about them. Youngjo could be a master in making heads of others but definitely not himself. Especially during such hard times like right now. So he reached out for help and the two friends ended up having a long talk about other stuff that were spinning in the young father's head as well. He just wanted to stop lying to himself but he couldn't differentiate the truth between endless rows of lies and it frustrated him. The outcome of that conversation had been satisfying enough but not completely since there was still a bug inside of Youngjo that kept him hesitant.
