Chapter 7

"Hope?", you asked in disbelief.

"Hi.", she said with teary eyes.

You didn't say anything, just wrapped your arms around her and held her close, tears streaming down your face.

"I love you so much and I am so sorry for everything.", she whispered into your ear.

"It's okay, I understand why you did it. I love you too.", you answered, pulling back from the hug, just to lean forward and kiss her.

Tears of happiness were streaming down both of your faces.

You broke the kiss and smiled at her, taking her hand and pulling her inside of the room, before sitting down on the bed, patting the spot beside you.

Hope sat down next to you and you laid your head on her shoulder, while she wrapped her arms around you and rested her head on top of yours.

You sat like this for hours, not talking. Just sitting there, holding each other.

Your little bubble was interrupted by a knock at the door.

"Come in.", Hope said, still holding on to you.

Rebekah came into the room and sat down next to you on the bed.

"How are you feeling?", she asked the both of you.

"Better now.", you said and Hope held you tighter.

"Okay, we'll have dinner in about ten minutes.", Rebekah said and then leaves.

"I think we should get ready.", you said and Hope nodded, walking over to her dresser and pulling out a simple black jeans and a blue shirt.

The two of you walked downstairs and sat down at the table, keeping some distance.

You know you love Hope, but you're not ready to be with her again. She hurt you more than anyone ever did before her and you don't want to be hurt again. You just have to tell Hope that.

After dinner, you go back to Hope's room.

"Can we talk?", you asked her and she nodded.

"Look, I love you. But we can't be together. You hurt me and I am scared that you'll do it again. I also understand why you did what you did, but I need some time.", you said and Hope's eyes welled up with tears.

"I understand your point. I love you too, Y/N. I always will. Is there any chance that we will ever be together again.", Hope asked hopefully.

"Yeah. I really want to be with you again. But like I said, I need some time.", you said and stood up from the bed, making your way to the door.

"I'll sleep in the guest bedroom. Oh and Alaric will be here tomorrow to pick me up. If you want to go back to school just come with us, okay?", you asked and Hope nodded.

You made your way to the guest bedroom, when you met Freya in the hallway.

"Hey. How did it go with Hope?", she asked.

"We're taking a break from our relationship. I can't be with her at the moment but we'll be fine eventually.", you explained.

"Yeah. I understand that. But don't make her wait to long, you know how she is when her emotions overwhelm her.", Freya said.

"Yeah, I know. And I don't want her to be in pain. I don't even know why I need a break, bacause this changes nothing about my feelings for her. It's just, I guess when I distance myself it won't hurt as much, when she leaves again.", you explained, a single tear making a way down your face.

"Believe me, it won't make it easier. You are just going to regret that you weren't with her. You will regret the time you missed with her. But Hope won't leave again, I'm sure. Maybe you should think about this whole break-thing.", Freya suggested and you nodded.

"Yeah maybe..."
