Draco squeezes (y/n)'s hand comfortingly. She was practically shaking with nervousness when the whistle was blown and Cedric stepped out onto the field. To everyone else, he must have look perfectly at ease but you can tell how panic stricken he really was . He searches the crowd for a while, until he finds your face. You flash him your most encouraging smile and wave. Cedric's face breaks into a grin and Draco mumbles something like stop grinning you big oaf.

The swedish short snout. It was a huge, blueish-grey dragon that shot blue flames through its nostrils. It's skin was commonly used to make protective gloves or shields. The dragon had enchanted skin that would block out almost all spells. (y/n) found herself praying that Cedric's plan didn't involve hexing the swedish short snout because no spell would penetrate those scales. The dragon was circling a nest filled with eggs, one blindingly gold. Cedric darts over to a boulder, the dragon not having noticed him yet. He pulls out his wand, points it to the rock. It starts materialising into something, it's shape clearly dissorting into an animal of some sort. A hippogriff maybe? A bull? A wolf? Your eyes adjust to the glare from the sun.

A labrador. What the fuck?

All color drains from your face when you see the giant dragon stomp towards Cedric. But instead it starts running after the dog. You start to see the reasoning behind the whole rock-dog thing. It was clearly meant to be a distraction. Cedric runs over to the nest, he's almost there when the dragon screeches loudly and starts darting after him. Cedric sprints even faster, he grabs the egg just in time before dragon blows out an enormous blue flame. Cedric stumbles back but still holds the eggs firmly. Finally, wizards in orange robes shoot spells at the beast to calm it down. Cedric looks fine at first, from the angle where you're sitting at least. Claps and cheers erupt through the makeshift arena, but when he turns around, you notice that part of his face is injured. Burned. A group of mediwizards help him inside a white tent with a red cross. You run out, stumbling between students frantically, towards the infirmary tent.

"Cedric?" You say, finally having gotten past the stubborn wizard guarding the entrance.

"In here." His voice groans behind a white curtain. You pull it back just as he stands up. You grab him into a long hug. Finally, you pull away to examine his injury.

"Oh my god." You whisper, your breath hitching in your throat. Half of his face was covered in thick orange paste, but you could still make out severe scabs and blisters underneath it.

"Is it really that bad? Madam Pomfrey promised she could fix it." His expression growing more worried.

"No I just hate seeing you hurt." You say reassuringly, forcing him to sit back down on the examination table.

"I'm fine. It doesn't hurt a bit." Cedric chuckles, tucking a stray hair behind your ear. "Trust me, i'm a doctor."

"You know what, I'm never letting you come up with a plan ever again. A dog? Really?" You scold him playfully.

"I thought it was a cool bit of transfiguration. Bonus point: it was your favourite dog." He scoffs when you roll your eyes. "Nick helped me with it."

"Wow that explains why half your face is burnt off. I'm gonna have to start buying you more good luck charms if you're letting my brother help you"

"Speaking of your brother, I think you should tell him about uh.. This." Cedric says motioning between you and him.

You were hoping he wouldn't ask that, knowing Nick wouldn't react well. "Soon. I promise." He raises his eyebrows slightly. "It's just that we're on such good terms right now... and i'm scared he'll be angry at you"

"Yeah, I know. Peregrine called you "hot" once and Nick gave him a black eye."

"He did what?"

"Look at the egg!" Cedric says holding up his golden egg, hoping it would distract you off the subject.
