What felt like hours was only mere minutes. Tension building up between the two. Ethan had seemed to distance himself from {y/n}. Maybe she had an idea where Rose was. The answer was what he was afraid of. Ethan distracted himself by looting what he could, hoping to find clues that would lead him to his daughter. He was desperate, not giving up no matter the obstacles that had been thrown his way. His daughter was all he had. He had lost Mia and that alone had left an empty hole in his heart. All he wanted was for his daughter to be safe, away from harm's way. Ethan had walked from door to door, {y/n} following from a short distance. Not too far to get lost, but far enough to be out of his way. Tension only grew. It grew when Ethan's eyes would stray away from {y/n} for a little too long or when his back was facing her. They could feel the tension. Especially her. The way he was losing his trust.

I don't know what she was capable of.

A part of her knew he wouldn't understand, but the other part wanted to try. And so she helped as much she could. As much as Ethan allowed her to. He inspected a bottle, laying in a deep bowl filled with thick dark soupy liquid in the kitchen. He picked it up, the thick burgundy liquid dripping from the well ornate wine bottle.

"Sanguis Virginis?" He mutters to himself. {y/n} walked closer behind him, looking over his shoulder and soon enough she grimaced at the sight of the giant bottle.

"Maiden's Blood," She translated. He frowned a little. What's that supposed to mean? He said nothing as he placed the old and well decorated bottle in his backpack. Sensing his questioning, {y/n} explained further. "A 15th Century technique Dimitrescu adapted. Depriving virgin women of their blood, fermenting it into wine."

Ethan cringed, finding the fact not so surprising, but rather disturbing. He began walking towards the dining area. {y/n} followed. The table looked set up, almost as if the residents of the house already ate. Ethan inspected the plates and pulled away immediately when he saw the contents in the bowl. Ethan looked at {y/n} with a slight disgust in his face. {y/n} only raised her brows, amused with his reaction. Ethan looked around the room, continuing to search for an idea of the whereabouts of his daughter. {y/n} looked out the window towards the courtyard, somberly. Ethan searched everything, every cabinet, every corner. Having no idea where his daughter could be and knowing what creatures lurked in the dark. It scared him.

"Perhaps Rose is being kept in the Lady's personal quarters." {y/n} suggestion falls on deaf ears. Ethan continues to look around. "Why don't we take a look?" {y/n} insists with a smile. Ethan could only nod, before walking away into the Main Hall without facing her. Maybe he did feel like a bit of an asshole. But the things that he had seen made no one trustworthy. It was awkward and silent. The amity had long been gone.

They walked up towards a corridor. {y/n} opened a door and pulled Ethan inside the dark bedroom. The only light coming from a few candles and the daylight seeping through the layers of curtains. Ethan suddenly became furious and anxious.

"What are you doing?" Ethan asked, walking deeper into the dark bedroom, away from her. She narrowed her eyes.

"You're being a bitch," {y/n} seemed to startle him with his words as he stood silent for a moment. She walked closer to him. He scoffed, facing away from her. She continued, however, "What is wrong with you?"

"What's wrong with me? My wife is dead and my daughter was kidnapped! And there are things that are out to get us and you are asking me what's wrong with me?!" Ethan yelled, losing his patience, pushing {y/n} away from him by her shoulders. She staggers back a bit, regaining her balance quickly. {y/n} frowned.

"You're afraid," She stated softly. Ethan said nothing as he only stared at her. His face softened.
