Nick bolted from what was chasing him, the white creature hopped after him as it snapped its permanent grinning mouth with large, sharp, piercing teeth behind him. He slowed down slightly, his legs pounding with exhaustion as he huffed and puffed, trying to catch his breath. He would've tried to call for help, but he couldn't, his throat burned, lacking anything to relieve it. He knew this was it, the final few moments of his life. The last thing he saw before everything went black, was the creature having a large grin across its face, getting closer as Nick screamed in fear.

Just a few hours earlier, Nick had been with two of his closest friends, George and Darryl. The trio of boys had just been messing around in an oak forest roughly around seven pm, cracking jokes and trying to spook each other, especially Darryl, after all, it was Halloween. Despite Darryl being the oldest out of the small group, he got scared the easiest, he was the softest one and was always teased, every time the dirty blonde-haired boy would respond back with something along the lines of," You little muffin!" or "You two are just a pair of muffins, aren't you?"
"Wait, we can be The Three Muffin-teers!", Darryl suddenly half shouted, loud enough for a few crows to fly away in the night sky as they cawed.

Nick responded with a hidden grin," Yeah, yeah, sure, just keep it down or else Nightmare would hear you and chase us."

George hopped in on the conversation as he smirked at Nick, picking up what he was putting down and continuing it," Yeah! I heard it had razor sharp teeth and a permanent grin painted on its face."

"And its speed and strength are incredible, the speed of a cheetah and the strength of a hippo's bite," the black-haired boy, Nick, had chimed in again, he looked at George and gave a slight nod in his direction, not noticeable by Darryl. He slowed his pace and let the two go ahead as Darryl raised his voice at George and Nick, not knowing that Nick had disappeared from his side.

Darryl soon acknowledged that his 'panda' friend has disappeared, he looked around for him as he yelled," Nick? Nick? Where are you?! Where'd you go? George do you know where he..." his voice trailed off as he looked back where his colorblind friend had been, but he wasn't there either. Fear quickly enveloped him, like he was sinking, very hastily, into quicksand, and there was no way to escape it.

Nick then stepped on a twig and it snapped, he tensed up as he realized it wasn't him who snapped the twig, he hadn't moved at all, "George, stop moving, be quiet," he whispered quietly to who was next to him. He kept his eyes on Darryl in the middle of the clearing, Nick had been standing behind a tree, in the shadows, but it was that moment he realized his brown-haired friend was across the clearing hiding. If Darryl was in the clearing and George was across from Nick, then who was standing behind him.

Nick suddenly screamed as he bolted, or well, tried to before he tripped, his voice was loud and rung through his friend's ears and his own, it went insanely high somehow. He quickly scrambled to back up away from the creature, but he failed to move far, his hands fumbled to grab something in the grass, but wasn't successful, so he tried to move back before his back ran into something in the clearing.

He panicked since he couldn't see the white creature anymore, it wasn't in sight. He turned towards what he back was pressed up against for a moment.

It was just George. Nick fumbled with his words, but he knew his friends didn't understand, he looked up at them as he continued to try and explain, fear written all over his face, almost like someone had taken a sharpie and wrote 'terrified' all over his face as he was sleeping at a sleepover. His breathing wasn't anywhere close to steady as his heart pounded rapidly in his chest.

Darryl was frightened, he knew his friend wasn't acting because he was a terrible actor, something had truly broken Nick to the point of losing all capability of speaking right. What exactly scared him? Darryl didn't know, nor did he want to find out. But he did know is that he wanted to calm him down and he knew just the way to do it.
