One day you'll meet someone and for some inexplicable reason, you'll feel more connected to this stranger than anyone else. - Unknown
Faye's POV
Today is my last first day of high school. After three years of constant studies, parties and the agony of waking up early in mornings, I can finally say that I'm officially a senior. Long gone the days of skipping classes and silly remarks, because as of now I'm a mature women. Minus the fact that I still can't sleep without my little teddybear.
Every year, I start with that naïve feeling that it was going to be "my year" and that I was going to take full advantage of every opportunity that passes by me. Having been let down on so many occasions, I decided that this time I'm just going to do my best and take the challenges as they come. But even after limiting my expectations, I still can't shake the feeling that this year's going to be special.
So here I am in Wilson high school's parking lot, inside the white mini Cooper I got on my sixteenth birthday. After unhooking my seat belt, I found myself still glued to my seat. Fear and hesitation consumed me, making it impossible for me to exit my car and head towards the school.
"Are you coming or what?" A feminine voice shouted from outside my car window, making me jump on my seat.
"Yeah, I'm coming." Hiking my backpack over one shoulder, I unlicked my car door. The warm September breeze caressed my face as the smell of wet dirt from the rainy night filled my nose. I inhaled deeply, turning my attention towards the annoying girl who made me exit my protective shell.
"I thought you'd never get out!" Chuckled Hanna, pulling her strawberry curly hair into a messy bun. Despite her short height, Hanna always stood out, with her beautiful hair and chocolate brown eyes, it was hard not to.
"I have every right to be nervous." I exclaimed, "We're seniors!"
"Chill out, it's going to be fine." Giving me a reassuring smile. "Instead of freaking out, we should be making the best out of our last year here."
"I missed you cupcakes." I heard a voice from behind, as long thin arms pulled me into a tight hug.
"Britney!" I said not able to breath. "I saw you two days ago."
"So? I never get enough of my cupcakes." She giggled, adjusting her cheerleader uniform. Her silk blond hair in its usual high ponytail.
Hanna and Britney, the most amazing friends a girl could ever ask for. We've been friends for god knows how long. Hanna, with her bubbly personality and unique sense of humor is your typical party animal while Britney, being the head cheerleader, is always full of life. And no she's not even close to being that mean, snobby cheerleader you see in movies.
"So are you guys ready?" She asked, linking her arms to mine and Hanna's.
"We sure are!" We said in union, making our way to the school's front door.
"So are you exited to see him?" Asked Hanna as we passed between the mob of teenagers, some I knew, others I have never seen before.
"See who?" I asked, hoping she'll hint my discomfort and change the subject, but it wasn't the case as the next thing that escaped her lips was a name I haven't heard in a long time. "Matt".
"Shh! someone could hear you!" I said, glaring at her.
"Oh come on! You're the most wanted girl in school and you can't even talk to the guy you've been crushing on for almost a year?"
"Why will I do that? And even if I did, it won't change the fact that he's not interested in me!." It's true, I may not know that for sure, but with long wavy brown hair and hazel eyes, I was a bit above average. Who would choose a girl like me when you can get any girl you desire? Besides, every time I try to approach him, I find a way to embarrass myself.
