Don't Lie... Unless You Absolutely Have To

I walked in to the school gates and pulled my hood down. The tedious shoutings from the more immature ninth and tenth graders started up. I groaned and walked off mumbling to myself. I thought of an excuse to tell my teachers but I wasn't sure they would believe it. Jason tackled me to the ground, interrupting my train of thought. I looked up at him, he was grinning.

"That's payback for kissing me, then knocking me to the floor," he whispered in my ear. I sighed and he helped me back up. I looked down and hid my face behind my hair. Jason reached up a hand and brushed it behind my ear. "Thinking about Alex, hm?" I nodded and he pulled me into a hug. He was much taller than I was so I leant my head against his chest - the bottom half - before squinting to look up at him.

"How do we cover up we were in Arkham?" I asked quietly. Jason frowned down at me and let me go. I dropped my arms by my sides and continued walking beside him. The walk to Maths was dull, and boring. Jason gave me a goodbye hug and walked to his class with Mr Mullen. I had mine with Mrs Nicholson. I sighed and walked in. Mrs Nicholson gave me a cheery hello while I dully hummed. I took my seat, next to the table where Alex would have sat if she wasn't hospitalized. I turned to see who was behind me. Lewis Wayne, brilliant. He was the brother of Damian Wayne, but he was in a higher year. I sighed and closed my eyes. The lesson was dragging and overall boring and easy. Thankfully, the bell went and all I has to do was endure in P.E and then go home, as I had an appointment with a certain cat and puzzle setter. I ran down to P.E and made sure no one was in a bathroom so I could change. I pulled my jumper off and got changed into the P.E kit I had brung. It was a black top with a green question mark on it, to annoy that certain puzzle solver. Then, tight black joggings - which I would change to jeans which had the same effect - complimented my calves, thighs and butt along with a tight hoodie to compliment my chest region to annoy to that certain cat. The teacher frowned when he saw me. We were outside, playing our badminton game today. Jason and Ethan's class were out today, too. Which I found quite awkward as I walked outside and shoved my hair into a tight ponytail. I picked up a racket and and started bouncing it up and down. I decided to team up with Poppy today as Rose and Alex both weren't here. Usually, I would go with Rose and Alex would go with Poppy. Just so Rose and Poppy didn't have to cause any sibling rivalry. I served the shuttlecock and felt a pair of eyes on me. Jason, Ethan, and half the class stared at me. Except the ones that weren't interested. They stood marvelling me, ogling at me. Soon, a football came flying into contact with Jason's head. I made an 'ooh' sound and hit the shuttlecock back to Poppy when she launched it back.

"Hey, Caralyn, how come you weren't in school for the whole of last month?" asked Poppy confused. It was October now, the Halloween month that my father loved so much. I made a quiet pondering sound.

"Holiday, in the hills, of Switzerland," I lied. I mentally facepalmed, she wouldn't buy that. Oh, but she did.

"Really? Did Jason, Ethan and Alex go with you?" she asked. Gosh, Poppy asks a lot of questions.

"Yes, Pops," I groaned. Pops is a nickname I gave to her. She just nodded and served the shuttlecock, sending it sky high, making me run to hit it, but I failed. I sighed and picked it up.

"Hey, where is Alex?" she questioned suspiciously. I smirked and served the shuttlecock again.

"I could ask you the same thing about Rose,"

These jeans were befitting. I walked with ease in them. I stopped and stood at the bus stop, waiting for the number twenty two to come. When it had, I jumped on the bus and asked for just outside the Ace Chemicals building. The driver didn't question my choice of destination but he looked a little disturbed. I smiled when he handed me my ticket and I made my way to stand beside the bus doors. We passed a lot of buildings and I was growing impatient. As soon as we stopped outside Ace Chemicals, I waved a hand at him and ran down. The rain was still pouring from yesterday, which made me smile, but then frown because I was getting wet. I ran down a few steps and made my way to the puzzle setters hideout, where I knew the Cat would be. I stuck my hand on to the panel. It soon matched it for dads, which the puzzle setter obviously welcomed with open arms. I walked in, to see the grandiose waterfall. I saw the Cat and the puzzle setter arguing. The door closed quietly behind me.

"Good day, Sel, Eddie!" I exclaimed, loudly enough for them to pale and turn to face me.

"Oops, I forgot," murmured Selina.
