My whole life I've been searching for the philosopher's stone, you may be wondering what it is? it is a legendary alchemical substance capable of turning base metals such as mercury into gold or silver Its discovery was the supreme object of alchemy, every lead I've found has always been a dead end but not this one.
I found the Rose key in Iran, alone. it was a large bull head statue with Aramaic writing all over it and it wasn't easy to find, it almost cost me my life.
Two weeks earlier
"I'm approximately 20 miles inside the Iranian border on route to the Habala region where they have ordered the destruction of a network of caves at sun down tonight. I believe these caves might contain a critical missing piece of our history. A piece I can't let them destroy." I said quietly, holding my camera low on my lap while wearing a shawl over my head
"Oh, and if I'm found dead, please know I entered the country of my own free will, fully knowing the penalty for trespassing here is burial up to your neck in sand and having a rock wall pushed on top of you.
Which, you know, seems perfectly appropriate. But they'll have to catch me first." I added, grinning mischievously.
and that I did, I found it.
but it was all written in Aramaic and I had no idea how to read it but luckily I know someone who does

"(y/n)! you're crazy, he'll kill you for walking in uninvited" Eren whisper yelled as I opened Levi's front door. "just stay here" I said, looking at Armin, Mikasa and Eren. once they heard that I had found the Rose key they offered to help me carry on the search, I was especially happy to have Armin on board, he would be a great help
"I won't be long, I promise" I said, shutting the door behind me. "Levi?" I called, walking to the base of his stairs. "I know you're here, I saw your car in the driveway" I said with amusement in my voice.
as I began to ascend the stairway I looked up to see Levi was already standing at the top giving me a scowl. "Hey Le- whatever it is I want nothing to do with it" he snapped, cutting in over top of me.
"oh c'mon please, it won't take long, I promise" I pleaded as he past me, walking down the stairs, I followed after him. "I said no and also, who do you think you are just walking in here" he said nonchalantly, though still giving me a death stare.
"I'm sorry Levi, I just really need your help, please" I begged trying to give him my best puppy eyes.
"why should I after what you done" he spat, turning his back to me. I sighed, hanging my head down shamefully. a few months earlier me and Levi had been drinking, after Levi passed out I took his car being absolutely shitfaced and crashed it by mistake. I still haven't even given him money to repair the damage yet.
"I'm sorry" I mumbled, avoiding eye contact. "just get out" he said, walking towards the front door to open it. "I found the Rose key Levi"
he froze just as he was about to turn the doorknob. "and I also got the money to pay you back" I mumbled again with a guilty smile, holding it out to him.
He just stared at me in shock for a few moments. "Was it in Iran?" he asked, walking towards me, I nodded.
"did you go alone?" he said giving me a somewhat concerned look. "it doesn't matter who went" I replied, crossing my arms over my chest. "you did, didn't you" he pressed, I remained quiet
"you could have gotten yourself killed, you're a lunatic (y/n)" he said, placing his hands on my shoulders. "anyway what do you need help with" he continued "It's all in Aramaic and I need your help translating it, you're the only person I know who can read it" I said taking out the pictures I had taken and placed them on the table in his kitchen.
he followed after me looking down over my shoulder at the pictures. "Mikasa, Eren and Armin are waiting outside. Mind if I invite them in?" I said walking towards the door. "fine" he answered.
"c'mon in, he's going to help us" I said, holding the door open for them. "alright" Eren smiled. "I have to ask, what exactly is the Rose key?" Mikasa questioned taking a seat at the table
Levi heled up a photograph of the statue, showing it to her. "The fabled 'Rose Key' is a kind of Rosetta Stone. Many believe that the clues to the location of the Philosopher's Stone is encoded in these arcane symbols, but its meaning has remained a mystery until this" Levi answered, looking up at me with amazement.
"it'll take me a while so go wait in the living room"
"I'll wait here with you" I replied taking the seat across from him. he looked at me, furrowing his brows. " I've been waiting for this moment all my life. I'm not gong anywhere" you informed. "fine"
-
"almost done?" I asked resting my chin on my palm.
Levi placed his pen down and looked up at me. "okay" he sighed. "What does it say!?" I cried, running to his side "It says the Philosopher's Stone is in the Champs Elysee's Starbucks bathroom." he said absolutely deadpan.
"Seriously" I rolled my eyes at him. "Okay let me get this right.. 'Winged vulture leads your way, with brightest light, in darkest day" Levi said. this left me puzzled. what does that mean?
"Underneath the heaven's reign, what is lost shall be regained, when halfway twixt the darkest gate and this tablet laid atop this pair'ed fate." he continued, leaning back in his chair, just then Mikasa, Armin and Eren walked in.
"have you finished it?" Eren asked. "yeah he did" I answered distantly, deep in thought. "Underneath the heaven's reign, what is lost shall be regained..." I mumbled. "the philosophers stone maybe?" Armin said, reading the translation
"Maybe" Levi replied. "Underneath heaven's reign.. could be under the night sky?" Mikasa added. "yeah" I smiled, glancing up at Mikasa. "darkest gates? the gates of hell, it has to be" Armin said, sure of himself
"Okay. But that gives us nothing. Halfway between his grave and the gates of hell?" Levi replied, standing up. "Wait, wait, wait!" I cried, rushing to a small notebook full of alchemical symbols and text from inside my bag. It looked like it had written by a madman.
I rifled through it, until I found the page I was looking for then slammed the book down on the table. "It's a replica of an arcane drawing of the heavenly bodies above the earth, the ground, and hell within. But the thing that makes this interesting... the distances are noted." I paused looking at Levi "It has the distances they believed between heaven and earth and hell" Levi finished.
"According to the alchemists, the number of the Devil was 741. Makes sense they would believe hell to be 741 feet beneath the surface of the earth." I said with sudden realization
"But remember people were a lot shorter back then so.."
"So halfway twixt this tablet and..."370.5 feet directly beneath his tombstone is where we'll find the Philosopher's Stone." I exclaimed over the top of Levi.
