When I was left alone, I decided to use that time to get ready for the upcoming meeting with Alex. I don't really need more than 15 minutes to get ready, but gotta kill time with something.
After rummaging through my closet for 20 minutes, I decided on black ripped jeans, an oversized Aerosmith hoodie and black Doc Martin's. Brushing my hair and spraying some perfume, I was ready.
When I checked the time, I still got 20 minutes left so I decided to play with Deaky.
He's really amazing dog. He's been there when I was adjusting to this new life and became some kind of comfort and support to me.
Time flew by quickly, as I heard the doorbell. Alex stood at the door with a bright smile gracing his lips.
"Hello, love! Come in!" I greeted him with a hug which he returned.
"Hey! How are you?" He asked, the smile never leaving his face.
"Great now that you're here." I joked.
"Of course, you are when I graced you with my presence." He joked back which earned a laugh from me.
"So what are we doing today?" I asked.
"Whatever you want." He let me decide.
"Um, what about we go for a walk? Maybe buy some food on the way?" I gave my suggestion.
He nodded and walked to the door. "Yeah, let's go!" Then he paused and turned around to me "Should we bring Deaky?" He asked.
"Nah, he doesn't like night walks." I waved him off.
That's one of the many great things about my dog. He doesn't love to walk a lot. I let him run in the backyard or dog park every day, but he just lays down on the grass and sleeps.
We exited the house and started our journey down the sidewalk.
"Where are we going?" Alex asked after 5 minutes of peaceful silence.
"Wherever the road takes us," I smiled, and decided to go with the flew.
The road took us to the pretty little park about 1 km from my place. It doesn't have many streetlights so the view of starry night was even more beautiful, even perfect. I think I might start coming here more often.
We sat there on an abandoned bench, just enjoying each other's company in utter silence. Turning the other way, I lay down on the bench, marveling at the stars. Occasionally I would point out constellations.
"How do you know so much about stars and space stuff?" Aleksi glanced down at me with an amused smile.
"I always loved astrology and wanted to study astrophysics, but everyone talked me out of it so I had to study about it in my free time. It's just something about space that draws me in more and more. It's so fascinating. And as clìse as that sounds, stars just make me feel less lonely, they let me believe and dream." I ranted with a dreamy look on my face.
Alex gave me another one of his smiles and squeezed my arm reassuringly. "It makes sense actually. They are always here, we can't always see them but we know that they are here, looking over us." he agreed with me.
"Oh my God, yes! Finally, someone gets it!" I practically shouted while sitting up. Aleksi laughed at me as I high-fived him.
"Should we get going?" He asked after 5 minutes.
"Yeah, I'm hungry." We both stood up and turned in the direction we came from.
The city wasn't really busy in the late hours so the walk was really calm. We walked with our arms looped together, talking about everything we could think of. When we were about to pass my house, I stopped and ran up the stairs.
"I'll be right back, just need to feed Deaky." I said and Aleksi nodded.
As soon as I set foot in the house he ran up to me and jumped on me. I scratched his head and back until he jumped down and followed me to the kitchen.
"Here you go, buddy. I'll be home in a few!" I said to him and exited the house, locking the door.
"Let's go." Aleksi said, grabbing my arm and dragging me down the street toward busy shops and restaurants.
"Slow down you're gonna rip my arm off!" I said while digging my heels in the pavement of the sidewalk. He stopped and turned to me, grinning.
"What's so funny?" I asked crossing my arms.
"You look like a donkey..." He said and managed to sustain his laughter for one more minute before he started laughing out loud.
"Ha ha, very funny. Now start walking." I said, tugging his sleeve.
