Boo *Phil's P.O.V*

I walked towards the science lab, thinking about my awkward encounter with Dan. It was the closest I had been to him. He probably thought I was an socially awkward freak, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't want to speak to me again.

I arrived at the lab and entered. I sat down in my seat and looked around my eyes found Dan. He noticed me staring at him, I immediately blushed. He smiled at me and I flashed him a shy smile before returning my gaze to the front of the classroom.

"Today, I have decided to move your seats" Mr Henry announced.

I wasn't really surprised as he did this often. He started calling out names and pointing at spaces.

"Shane and Lisa... Joey and Sawyer... Alfie and Zoe..."

One by one, desks were being filled only me, Dan, Saffy and some other boy were left. My heart started to race. Mr Henry continued...

"Saffy and Daniel"

My heart dropped. It felt as if someone had smashed my chest with a sledge hammer. I stared at the ground.

"And finally... Dan and Phil"

I looked up, confused, I looked over at Saffy and the boy she was sitting next to. It wasn't Dan. My heart started racing, I had to stop myself from laughing and jumping up and down on the spot. Happily, I skipped over to my desk and sat down next to Dan. Never in my life had I been so happy.

"Hello, Phil" Dan whispered

"Hi, Dan" I whispered

"It's nice to see you on your feet." Dan joked

I chuckled and Mr Henry glared at me. He paced over and stood next to the desk.

"Is something wrong, Phillip"

"No sir, Sorry sir"I said, looking down at the desk.

"Good." He walked back to the front of the class.

"Today, we will be looking at chemical reactions, we will be doing an experiment so you will need to be in pairs. Your new lab partner will be the person you are sitting next to"

I glanced sideways at Dan, and saw that he was looking at me. He smiled at me and I smiled back.

"Around the room you will see that there are several experiments set up. What you must do is..."

Mr Henry's voice faded away and I started fantasising about me and Dan. I had only spoken to him twice but I knew that I loved him. A few other thoughts crossed my mind, then it hit me, I didn't know if Dan was gay. I thought about it for a while. I had never seen him with a girl, I only ever saw him surrounded by his friends, they were all boys. I didn't want to ask him, then he would know I liked him.

"Phil?" Dan said.

I looked up and realised we were supposed to have started. Awkwardly, I stood up and followed Dan to the experiment.

I looked at the table and all the equipment that was neatly arranged on top. There were some different coloured powders in test tubes and some beakers filled with water. Silently, Dan picked one up and dropped it in the water. Finally, he spoke.

"So phil what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?"

"Nothing exciting, I manly just watch TV. My parents don't have a lot of money so they can't afford the latest technology. What about you?"

"Huh?"Dan asked confused.

I sensed that he hadn't been listening. I noticed that he was looking at somebody across the room. I followed his gaze and found that he was looking at Saffy.

I frowned to myself and continued with the experiment. I should of known that Dan was straight, I was stupid to think I could one day be with him.

Sadly, I finished the experiment by myself and sat down. Soon Dan followed and spoke.

"Can I copy your notes?"

"Why?" I replied in a slightly harsh voice. "Weren't you watching?"

Dan sighed and then said

"Netflix. I like to waste my life watching Netflix."

I looked at him.

"I was listening." He said.

He took my book and began to copy my notes. Eventually, everyone began to head towards their seats. Suddenly, there was a loud thud and Dan burst out laughing. Quickly, I looked around and quickly saw that Saffy was sprawled on the ground just in front of Dan's desk, he must have tripped her up. Mr Henry helped her up and I could see that she had tears in her bright, blue eyes. Dan saw her tears too but her continued to snicker. Maybe I was wrong about Dan liking Saffy, maybe me and Dan could be thing. I felt a huge grin creep on my face.
