Hey people! I just would like to inform you that this is actually a school essay,   (that was only supposed to be five paragraphs lol)   and so it won't really contain anything spicy, or really any cuss words. I'm thinking of writing other stories after this, but I'm still not quite sure. thank you, and enjoy!

Rei let out a sigh of relief, dropping her spear. They had some time to rest before they had to get going. The adrenaline from the fight was now starting to fade, and both girls looked down at themselves. They could see the injuries sustained through the short scuffle. Small bits of crimson liquid splattered their clothes, like painted red flowers on every garment."Are you ok?" Rei asked, "My arm stings like hell." Tsuyo stated, holding it in front of her face. Large bites and scratches were littered over each of them. Looking at the area around them, both could see that the black ooze from the creatures had seeped into the environment. Seeming to have stained anything black along with it. "Jesus, what is this stuff?" Rei asked before putting a hound out to touch a blackened leaf. As soon as she touched it, the leaf crumbled, breaking into pieces and scattering onto the floor. Hearing the rumble of small feet getting louder, Tsuyo turned to Rei. "We should get going, those things will find us soon." Rei picked her spear back up while Tsuyo turned to her right and started to walk down the side of the creek. She could hear a soft humming from behind her.

The forest had gone dark, yet the full moon was bright enough to illuminate the whole forest with a soft blue glow. More mushrooms were clearly growing. The whole forest was almost dead quiet, except for the sound of two friends talking.

Rei and Tsuyo walked shoulder to shoulder discussing what they were doing before heading to the city. "How long do you think we've been walking for?" Tsuyo asked. Rei pulled out a pocket watch from her trouser pocket. "About an hour, it's 21:37." "Hey, look over there!" Tsuyo pointed a ways off to her right, a tall structure could be seen over the tree canopy. "Let's check that out, I'm starting to get sleepy" Tsuyo stated, She turned towards the structure and began walking into the trees. Rei quickly turned to follow. The two were now walking at a brisk pace towards the structure, they soon come upon a steep incline. Both started up the hill, walking slower now towards the structure. The ground was wet and slippery.

Must have rained earlier?

Tsuyo thought while stopping abruptly in front of the structure. Rei stopped right next to her, and both women looked up at the sight in front of them. An old breaking down tower stood at the middle of the incline, the grey stone blocks falling around it. Moss grew covering its exterior, and the opening to the tower was a stone arch. The remnants of aged wood scattered around the entrance. Eastern Redbud trees surrounded the tower, their flowers scattered around them on the ground. It was certainly a sight to see in the moonlight. "It's beautiful-" "It's just like my old house. The trees, the old moss-covered stone, like out of a fairytale." Tsuyo turned and looked at Rei, searching her eyes for what emotions she currently felt. Before she could see anything, Rei stepped into the tower. The tower interior was mostly intact, the stairs headed straight up towards the top, and there were rows of cabinets lining the walls. " We should check a few of these, and then we can get going." Tsuyo heard Rei behind her and hummed in reply, opening the first cupboard she saw. It was barren, the only filling being dust and dead spiders. "Nothing here." Rei nodded and opened a cabinet on the opposite side. "Come over here!" Tsuyo turned around towards Rei, who was standing with her back to her. The opened cabinet was stacked with ornately decorated pots, some a golden brown, and a few were black ceramic. "What are we going to do with those pots?" Rei looked at Tsuyo, Examining the confused expression on her face. "Well, I think metal would be better armor than the tunics we're wearing, Right?" Tsuyo nodded and pulled a cloth band out of her saddlebag. She cut half off and passed it to Rei. "Use this, you can tie the handles around yourself." Tsuyo picked four of the copper pans and headed for the stairs. Leaving Rei with the black ceramic and metal pans. "BE QUICK!" Rei yelled upwards, and hearing a soft laugh from her companion, she began to fasten the kitchenware onto herself.

"FINISHED!" Rei heard Tsuyo from upstairs, she too had finished preparing, and so she turned towards the stairs to wait for the arrival of her friend. "Wow . . .

We both look ridiculous." Rei looked up to see Her, laughing a bit, as it were true. The pots and pans were only attached to them using the cloth strand, and Honestly, any individual wearing their kitchen appliances would look odd. Flat pans were tied to their chests and backs, and the rounder pot covered their shoulders. "Might as well have a pot helmet" Tsuyo held up a soup pot, grinning. "I'm not putting that on my head," Rei said, laughing softly. "All that was up there was a lookout, it was a nice view anyway- So I guess we can go," Tsuyo stated. "Mhm, we need to find a place to stay for the night, it's collapsing here." They stood shoulder to shoulder and began walking out of the tower. Night had grown darker, but nothing else in the forest had changed- Except of course, for the barrage of mushrooms charging from all angles towards them. "Back inside!" They both yelled, and whipped around back into the tower. "Move those cabinets in front of the door." "Are you sure that's strong enough?" "no, of course not!" Both women were now whisper-yelling at each other. Rei Rolled up her sleeve and ran behind a cabinet. She pulled herself into a sort of quarter-back-like stance and lunged at the back of the storage. Pushing the cabinet in front of the opening. Tsuyo grabbed Rei's hand and began to pull her up the unstable stairs. Scratching noises could be heard at the blocked tower opening, and soon a loud SMACK echoed through the air. The creatures had arrived. Tsuyo, though still moving, was startled. and let out a small shriek. Running the spiral stairs up the tower, the brown wood of the trapdoor was finally visible. Tsuyo reached out her hand, pushing the door and leaping up onto the Tourette. Pulling Rei behind and along with her. Once they were both up, They turned around and looked down the door once, seeing that the mushrooms were not far behind. "We're cornered," Rei said softly, peeking over Tsuyo's shoulder. Tsuyo slammed the trapdoor and looked for the locking mechanism. The worn-down metal of an old latch was attached to the door. "That's not going to do anything," Rei said again, yet now she was much louder than her usual tone. "We're stuck here Tsuyo!" Rei was now Loud in Tsuyos ear. Rei continued to spew negative thoughts out louder and louder, "we're gonna die here." "We should have stayed down there." "If only I hadn't gone on this damned trip." "I could have been reading a book in my bed." Tsuyo had taken this time to look around at the tower view. And Rei's voice came again from behind her. "Tsuyo! Aren't you worried? Why-" "God shut up Rei! In the time you've spent muttering about our demise, we could have already been Out of this situation." Rei was quiet and watched as tsuyo perched herself over the tower wall. All of a sudden the trapdoor was hit with a loud bang, The mushrooms have finally gotten over the stairs. "God doesn't just sit there! Come on." And with that Tsuyo pushed herself off the Tourettes edge. Rei rushed over to the edge to find Tsuyo Gripping onto one of the tall redbud trees. "Are you crazy!" The banging noises were getting louder behind her, and the metal latch seemed to be on the brink of breaking. Rei grabbed onto the edge of the Tourette with white knuckles. Staring at Tsuyo who held an outstretched hand. Tsuyos eyes gleamed with the shining moonlight. And the reflection of her pupils showed the terrified face of her companion. Behind Rei, the latch snapped with a loud clang, And the trapdoor sprung open, hitting the cold stone of the Tourette. Rei threw herself over the tower's edge, reaching for Tsuyos hand. Connecting with Tsuyos soft hands, she felt her body being pulled closer towards the tree. The wind blew quickly past her face before she felt the tree's rough bark collide with her other hand. With the weight of both women on the tree now, a handful of pink flowers sprinkled down. Rei clung onto Tsuyo with one arm and brushed the flowers from her hair. The two began to quickly climb their way down the tree. The branches stopped about eight feet off the ground. "Grab onto my hand, we can jump together" Rei heard Tsuyo's cheerful voice from behind her. Hesitantly grabbing her hand, They jumped off the tree and tumbled onto the ground. "Thank you," Rei mumbled before hoisting herself up and holding out a hand for Tsuyo to grab. Tsuyo gladly took her hand and started down the hill. Both of them taking one last look at the bobbing figures at the top of the tower, They disappeared into the cover of the surrounding trees.
