taehyun practices after school every day for the competition. there is a trick competition, and then there is a race that includes the skate park. i'm only doing the race, he says, so he zooms around the skate park perfectly.
you jump up and down as you time him. they will announce the race track the day of the competition, but the faster he goes now, the better. and he zooms around the bowl like a cat who has the zoomies at two in the morning. the wind is blowing in his hair as he rides. his big bright eyes look like they're smiling.
you still want to learn how to skate? and you shy away. he always asks you this, but you're always too nervous. you're always falling in the hallway at school. in fact, you've fallen right in front of taehyun before, and he's helped you pick up your books. so he knows you have two left feet. why would he keep asking you this?
but he skates with all of his friends, and he does a few tricks while yeonjun practices for the big day. you sit with beomgyu and soobin and everybody applauds. then they skate to the pizza shop, and you ride on the back of sieun's bike.
i told him i like him, sieun says, but he only likes me as a friend. and you give her a big hug. you're still proud of her for telling him.
you sit on taehyun's lap when you get to the pizza joint. they pass out pizzas, including a big one with ham and pineapple on it. yeonjun's boyfriend loves that stuff. and they're all hanging out and talking and drinking more bawls, and you feel like this night could last forever.
you let taehyun drive you home after. you don't want to go home yet, so you go back to the skate park and sit in the parking lot. your dad still being mean to you? taehyun asks, and you nod.
your dad is always asking what you're going to do with your life. but you don't know. you don't have any special things about you that guarantee a future. your only plan is to graduate high school and get a job.
taehyun turns to you. the light from the parking lot reflects off his face. if you don't know where to go, do you want to live with me? we don't have to run away together. but we can just make a life, all our own. and if you ever fall, i'll take care of you.
you think that would be wonderful. it sounds so romantic, living in a small apartment with taehyun, going to work and being home at the end of the day. but it seems too far in the future. so you tell him you'll think about it.
he pulls out a necklace. can we at least make us official? and you say yes to him, and your necklace has two small rings on it that match his lip rings, and he kisses you under the lamplight.
