-Amy and Shaheena :-)
I begin to run at a normal pace, at least a few miles away from them, I don't run too fast anymore, knowing that it would waste valuable energy and they wouldn't catch up to me even at this snail's pace. Eventually I come to a clearing in the dense forest, once entering the clearing I slow my speed down even more as I'm aware that my own scent will be masked by the smell of other creatures that live within the forest.
After a couple of minutes I come to a pile of rocks in the clearing, I trot into the centre and lay down on the soft green moss covering it, after the long journey my weak body had just undergone, I decide I need to have a rest. I'm not out of breath, but I desperately need a rest.
I lay down for a while before the atmosphere changes, the shapes in the clouds hide away, fearing something that's approaching.
My head snaps up and my body instinctively tenses at the sound of a twig snapping, I scan the area for any sign of a wolf form. There's none. I run the perimeter of the clearing just to be sure. How stupid am I? Hiding from wolves in a clearing! Well done Laken!
I'm deep in thought, meaning that my reflexes are neither fast enough nor strong enough to block or dodge the spear that hits me in my back leg. I yelp, pathetically, in pain, and with difficulty I pull out the spear and send it flying back to it's owner. To my luck the spear hits right through the heart and shoots through the other side.
The hunters stand in formation beside him looking astonished and shocked to say the least. I laugh at their stupidity, 'they expected to be able to hurt me without a return blow!'
After a tense, silent moment the hunter's charge towards me; upon seeing their reaction I follow suit. I run at them with full speed, as i near them, more and more hunter's emerge from the dense trees. I'm surrounded, and although i'm an alpha wolf, i'm very weak and incapable, which for the second time today I'm starting to loath myself for.
However I'm still a wolf, no matter how weak so when i pounce forward on my back legs and land on a hunter's neck, a sickening, death defying crack erupts from it, merely moments after I've landed on him. A hunter that stands behind the dead body glares at me with a look of pure malevolence, as a reply i bare my teeth at him menacingly.
During this time, however, a hunter finds the gap to throw his spear at me. I'm not quick enough to dodge it or catch it, this means that the spear pierces me in the abdomen and comes out the other side; leaving a gaping hole in it's place.
I gasp in shock as my vision begins to blur, I fall to the red, blood-soaked grass clutching my abdomen; writhing in pain; I howl as i fade in and out of consciousness, my head pounding and heart sprinting. I faintly hear a number of soft wolf paws walking up the once welcoming green grass, while whispering something inaudible, just as I fall soundly asleep.
My eyes flutter open once again and I feel the unbearable pain spreading steadily, coursing through my limp body, my howls turn to whimpers; I feel a single tear roll down my cheek and watch it bounce into the puddle of red liquid. As the pain consumes me I'm unable to do anything but let it.
I feel strong arms lift me up off the ground, i know it's a werewolf in human form, i can tell by the strong, powerful scent emanating from him. As I slip into a coma the last thing I think is how pathetic and vunerable I must look, a sight Daniel and Amanda would pay generously to see.
NEXT DAY
I awake to the sounds of muttering and hushed voices, listening closely I try to identify either Amanda or one of her friends. I breath a silent sigh of relief as I realise it's none of the moonlight pack, however, I know I'm not safe yet, I have no idea where I am!
I sit up and open my eyes to come face to face with several rogues, i inch backwards on the hard bed which I'm currently resting on until my back presses against a cold stone wall.
"Woah! Calm down, we aren't going to hurt you." A female rogue speaks softly, I can't help but notice how young she seems, and how her beautiful black hair reaches her hips, with twinkling brown eyes that reassure me that I'm safe.
Get a grip of yourself Laken, she's a rogue. "But you're rogues!" I shout; the female rogue winces slightly.
"Yes we are! But we're also the guys who SAVED you!" A male voice behind the girl cries out.
They saved me! I can't believe it, rogues actually helped me. Rogues of all people, I mean, there could be worse, but aren't these guys supposed to be ravaging, in humane beasts with no thoughts for anyone but themselves. Yet they saved me. This fact confuses me, "Why did you save me? You're supposed to be brutal! And how many of you are there?"
" There's 29 of us living in our team house for the moment. And Don't believe everything mummy tells you dear boy, anyway, we only saved you because Tatiana an Zacharia insisted." Another man with grey eyes and short, dyed, blue hair says nonchalantly.
"My mum's dead," I reply simply.
There's a small silence, "Well, down to business," the tall, intimidating figure that emerges from the back says, "my name's Zacharia, and here's Tatiana my niece," he points to the girl who greeted me first, "We smelt the power on you, your scent is strong and we want to train you to your full potential, in return you will guard our rogue team house, as well as as the training, you'll be accepted as a member of our team, however we can not claim you as you still have a strong bond with your pack."
"Really?!" I ask astonished, i can't believe what I'm hearing. Rogues are known for being particularly lethal and strong yet they want to train me! Which is more that most pack wolves have offered to me. What also gets me is that he said, "you'll be accepted," something that I had longed for since my father rejected me and my mother.
Acceptance
.
"So do you accept?" The girl, Tatiana squeels with excitement, her bright eyes staring into mine.
"Yes, i accept!" I say, before laughing.
