A/n: to those who are a bit confused on why there's an old fic popping up again on my works, I decided to take this down for a bit before rewriting it. It went by the name Dragonfire previously, but I've since changed it to Devil in White. It's gonna be better this time, promise.

Without further ado, Welcome to Devil in White and Enjoy!

The cool air of early spring filled your nostrils, relaxing you substantially. It had been a hard winter for hunting and food, but luckily spring was finally here to banish the cold away and bring in a time of preparation for the summer harvest.

At the moment, you were heading to the town's library at the top of the hill, to see if the book on the harvest festival you had reserved was finally back in the building. As you walked, you gazed upon Adelonia's landscape and basked in its glory.

Aldelonia was a relatively small village surrounded nearly entirely by thick forest and tall mountains. What wasn't covered in trees was vast farmlands sowed with a plentiful bounty of seasonal plants, which mostly consists of regional fruits and onions. Its population was a mixed platter of orcs, halflings, nagas, satyrs and humans. The sun was just peaking over the highest mountain, still coated in a thick snow. You shivered a little bit as you hurried along to the building, your heeled boots clicking against the rough cobble.

The library was a small tan building with light birch furniture, filled with a variety of books on local lands and cultures. You pushed open its heavy door and shut the early morning chill out, absorbing the cozy atmosphere as you stride inwards. You looked around for a while before making your way to the front desk and leaning on the counter.

"Pierre? You there?" You projected your voice through the entire building, seeing a soft head of honey brown hair pop out of one of the aisles. The librarian, a half elf named Pierre, was a long time friend of yours, only being about 2 years younger at the ripe age of 24. He had an uncharacteristically tan complexion for someone who basically stays indoors at all hours of the day. Dressed up in his usual soft white cardigan and beige pants, He pushed back his rose gold round glasses and waltzed over to you in a friendly manner, showing off his pearly whites in a handsome grin.

"(Y/n)! Didn't expect to see you this early! That book you wanted finally came in, so it's right on the front desk. Anything else I can help you out with, Friend?" His happy demeanor filled the room, bringing a subtle warmth to your heart. You smiled back at him, shaking your head.

"Nope, nothing I can think of. Be sure to drop by for a reading, my treat. Maybe we could have some tea, too?" You offered as you picked up the small text, filled to the brim with knowledge. This should keep you busy for a while. Opening up the book to its sign out sheet, you quickly signed your name on the page and plucked it out of its holder, placing it on Pierre's desk. When you closed it, you noted one of the pages was dog-eared for you.

"Ah. I flipped through it before and found some information that you might find useful for the harvest, along with an odd symbol you might know the meaning of, so I marked it in the book. Once you're done with it, can you try to straighten that out?" Pierre added on. You nodded with another smile before making your way to the door.

"Oh and, (Y/n). Be careful."

"Something seems malicious about that symbol, but I can't put my finger on it."

Returning home to drop the book off, you grabbed your rucksack and a small pocket of currency, deciding to take advantage of how early it was and get some good deals down in the town.
