Prologue

Second Person POV

You and your younger sister Ace lived with the Tobias family for as long as you could remember. Your family was brutally murdered when you were 6 while Ace was just 4 about to turn 5, and you could barely remember your parents faces. The rage that boiled in your veins knowing that you would never see them again was like getting stabbed over and over. Even though they died while you were young, it still turned your soul dark. The only part of your parents that was left was your last name. Nothing was left after the attack except you and Ace. Akira and Griffin refused to tell you anything about your parents when you asked and that made you despise them, but not hate them since they did take you and Ace in when you had nowhere left to go.

At first you weren't close with their twins Blake and Lyra but soon enough the three of you had an inseparable bond as if you were their sister. You weren't sure if Ace thought of the Tobias's like family, but you hoped that she did. The twins and you did everything together and when you all were 12 the three of you decided that you wanted to do something more, and something that many would disagree with due to the danger. You three wanted to become hunters, and surprisingly Akira and Griffin were on board with the idea, but they told the group that they must be 15 before they start their training, and the kids whined and complained but agreed to their parents terms. Ace felt very left out since she was 1 year younger than you all, but Griffin and Akira told Ace that she could train with us at 14 as long as we kept her out of danger.

Three Years Later

It was finally time to start training, your birthday came first in January, then Ace's 14th birthday in February, and finally the twins turned 15 in June. You were beyond excited because you finally could get out of the Tobias house and try to find out information about your birth parents. You all had to go to the Hunter's Training Academy and Griffin took the four of you there in his truck and the closer you got the feeling in your stomach got worse. You couldn't pinpoint this feeling, but it was probably because the academy was near The Village. You heard rumors about the village from Griffin and he told you to never let anyone near the dangerous place. It didn't scare you though like he thought it would because something about The Village drew you in and you knew it was your instincts telling you that answers about your parents are there. Your thoughts were broken as Blake spoke, "We're finally at the academy y/n, you ready to kick everyone's ass and become the highest ranks." You were a little upset that Blake broke your thoughts but you looked at her and chuckled "Yes I'm so ready, but you know I'm gonna be number 1 so expect me to beat your ass too." Blake just grumbled at that while Lyra and Ace giggled.

"You four better not get into any trouble or I am personally going to come get you and you will never be able to finish your training," Griffin scolded at us. All of us nodded are heads eagerly since we were ready to go in the academy and check the place out.

The building was huge, it looked like there were about three floors and there were mini buildings that connected to the main one everywhere. The buildings were made of a light grey stone and there were windows every 10 feet from what you could tell. You were ecstatic to be there because something in you was telling you that becoming a hunter was your calling. It was like this was your destiny. The four of you got your luggage out with the help of Griffin and you walked into the main entrance. The vibe you got from walking felt really good and you did not think that this would end up being a bad decision. Griffin got you all signed up and he left. The lady took you all to your rooms and said that training would start the next day. Each of you had a different room, and you knew Ace would be upset because she always slept in your room. You reassured to her that everything would be okay, and you all went into your doors and shut them.
