a/n: before we start i just want to say that all parts of this book are my own ideas. some aspects may be similar to @-amarii 's book "heartbeat" but just so you know, amari and i have discussed this idea and she gave me permission to go ahead with it!!

this book is going to involve mature themes that i won't be putting warnings for in each chapter, so this is your one and only warning haha. themes include; underage drinking, sex, pregnancy, talks of abortion/adoption, as well as language.

the whole cast is on a high.

High School Musical was a massive success, everything going smoothly. the group of excited theatre kids are at Ashlyn's house, reliving the best moments of the show.

the cast and crew are milling around the first floor of the house, drinks in their hands as they laugh, karaoke going on in the corner.

Nini picks up a white claw, walking through the kitchen as she pops it open, holding her breath as she passes a group of the crew passing around a juul. she settles onto the lap of her recently reunited boyfriend, his arms wrapping around her waist as she pops open the can.

they're watching Carlos and Seb sing a drunken rendition of "you're the one that i want" from grease. Ricky laughs as they recreate the dance.

the couple passes the can of seltzer between them, taking sips as they laugh with their friends. the party continues for a while, the group buzzed and happy.

Ricky taps Nini's hip as they're standing side by side in Ashlyn's kitchen, "it's getting late, want me to drive you home?"

the petite brunette smiles and nods, the two making their rounds to say goodbye before leaving hand in hand.

the curly haired boy is more sober so he drives, the windows unrolled to help sober them up a little more. music plays in the car, both of them singing along.

they pull into the driveway of the two story modern house, the lights off and only one car in the driveway.

Ricky puts the car in park and turns to look at the girl besides him, "is nobody home?"

she shakes her head, "moms had to bring Lola back to her assisted living home and they decided just to get a hotel room for the night since it's kinda far."

the teens grow silent for a moment before Nini unbuckles her seatbelt, her palm reaching over, sliding up and down his leg sensually, "did you wanna come in?"

he swallows harshly, nodding quickly, "y-yeah."

slowly, they get out of the car, grabbing their backpacks from the backseat and heading to the door.

Nini unlocks the front door, flipping on the entrance and den lights, allowing them to see the stairs up to her room. they slip their shoes off and she locks up before the head upstairs.

her room is cozy as always. Ricky drops his backpack against the wall next to her door and takes a seat on her bed, taking out his phone to tell his dad where he is. Nini pulls her hair out of her ponytail and slips off her leather jacket.

the teenage boy notices his girlfriend pulling her red plaid sweater over her head, dropping it on the floor as she heads to her bathroom, "i'm gonna take a shower, did you wanna join me?"

he nods, setting his phone down on the bed and slipping his button down off, a trail of clothes beginning to form as they make their way into the bathroom.

she starts the water before they strip down completely and step in together. it's not the first time they've seen each other naked, it's not even the first time they've showered together. when they first started dating, they got intimate very quickly, having been friends for so long and hiding their feelings for each other.

Ricky lathers shampoo and conditioner into his girlfriends hair, rubbing his fingers into her scalp soothingly. she sighs and leans back against him slightly. he smiles and drops a kiss to her shoulder.

they take turns washing and rinsing off and are now just standing under the warm water. his arms are wrapped around her waist as her chin rests on his chest.

"i love you." he says quietly.

"i love you too."

they share a sweet but passionate kiss, Nini's fingers threading into his wet curls. it's soft and sensual but they both know they need more.

when they break apart, she presses gentle kisses to his jaw, "do you wanna take this to the bed?"

"absolutely."

he reaches behind them, shutting the water off and grabbing the towel from just outside the shower curtain. he dries them off as best as he can before he's hoisting her up onto his hips, the girl clinging to him as she giggles. he carries her to her bed, gently laying her down under the covers before getting in with her.

their kisses are sweet and light, they always are loving and caring. it's so special that even after so many months apart, they can still make each other feel this way.

she can feel his growing erection between her thighs and she shifts, letting out a little moan at the feel of him hitting her core. they grind against each other for a few minutes before they work in tandem to become one.

once he's fully inside her, it's like they never broke up. they immediately find their old rhythm, thrusting slowly and sharing passionate kisses as they grab onto each other.

Nini gasps into Ricky's mouth as he thrusts, her hands holding onto the back of his neck and his shoulder, little whimpers floating into his mouth as they kiss.

"you okay?" he asks when they break away, their foreheads still pressed together.

she nods, "mhm, but don't stop."

it's slow and euphoric as they reach their combined highs, coming together in a mix of moans and groans, gasps of each other's names on their lips.

they lay together, basking in the glow of their love as the moon shines into the room. their legs are tangled under the sheets and they feel so spent but so alive at the same time.

"i'm so happy we got back together."

"yeah?" Ricky asks, looking down at her where she's resting against his chest.

"mhm, it just feels like everything is going right. that no matter what, we can get through anything and come out stronger together."

he smiles, leaning down to press a kiss to her lips, "i feel it too."

they fall asleep like that, tangled together but blissfully in love. after all, everything happens for a reason.
