The dare that changed everything -obx based story

We just arrived in our new home when my mom gets a call from her new job. They need her immediately at work. My mom is an officer.  Her name is Olivia. She is always busy with work and she can't tell us too much about it because she has duty of silence. My dad is a nurse. His name is Andrew. I also have a brother, Jaxx. He is 19 years old. Almost 20. I am Evie by the way and I am 16 years old. I don't know what I want to be when I grow up. I do like travelling and adventure so maybe I'll be a manager from a travel agency. We will see. My brother isn't really thinking about his future he spends much time with his friends. He smokes and drinks a lot with his friends but my parents don't know. I think they will be so mad if they found out. They probably don't mind that he drinks that much but he smokes a lot. And not just cigarettes also joints and weed. Not that much though. But still. But luckily he is a very sweet brother to me. He really protect me and always picks me up if it is dark or if I have to walk alone. Sometimes he is a little bit to protective. Once I was meeting with my friends and a few boys. We were just hanging out when I found out he was spying on me. I got real mad that time. I think some people wish they had a brother like that but sometimes it annoys me. I am 16 and in 3 months I will turn 17. I can take care of myself.

My mom answers "Alright I'll be there in 15 minutes." She yells "you guys have to unpack the boxes yourself, I have to leave!" I sigh. Now we have way more work to do. I rather would go outside and take a look at area and see who lives around here. But I have to help. My dad won't let me go. He isn't really strict but he want me to help because I am 16 and I have to help around the house too. I understand. My mom is much stricter. If I would sneak out at night she definitely would be angry and I will be grounded.

I am getting out of the car and walk up to our house it isn't that big but a nice house for the four of us. I walk up to my room. My room is at the back of the house. I have a huge window with a very nice view. I can just see past a house diagonally behind us. Beyond that is the marsh. I have heard that it is very beautiful to sail through there in the evening with sunset. If I get friends here I hope they have a boat. Lost in my own thoughts I'm startled because my brother throws a box in my room. I turn around and look at him. He looks tired. "Are you okay?" I ask. "Yes why wouldn't I be okay?"  He says. "Oh uhm nothing you just look a bit tired." "Yes that is possible I actually am. But thanks for checking up on me" "Of course your my brother" I say. He walks out of my room. I open the box he just threw in. In the box are all my clothes I am putting them in my closet and when I am finally done I walk downstairs. I ask my dad if he can help me with my bed. "Yes I'll come in a few seconds.

When my bed is finally standing I put all my pillows and blankets on it. I have to get a desk and some decorations but that is something we will get later. I help my dad with his bed. When I finally was about to leave my brother asks me if I can help him with his closet. He still has to put it together but he can't do it alone. I have a build in closet so I didn't had that much work. I  quickly help him and then finally get out. I am walking in our backyard. It is a boring backyard only grass. We really need to do something about this. I walk to the front of the house. I see the neighbours across. I walk up to them and introduce myself. They are very sweet. It is an old couple. I think around seventy years old. They are so adorable. They welcome me to the neighbourhood and tell me to take a look at marsh behind our house. So I walk up to the marsh and have a look it is so beautiful. I walk up the scaffolding. It really is beautiful here. I am just sitting when I see a shadow in walking up to me. I quickly look behind me and see a boy standing behind me. He has brown hair and green eyes. "Hello you must be the new neighbour. I live behind you." "Oh hi that is nice" I blush. I am so stupid why does this happen all the time when a hot boy walks up. "What do you think of the area so far?" He asks. "I think it is really nice I didn't see much though only this. I didn't had the time to take a look earlier" I respond. "Do you want a tour?"he says. "Yes sure." We walk towards my house. When we walk past my house I see my brother standing in the garden. "Already found a boy I see?" "Stop it Jaxx!" I shout. "I am so sorry that is my brother don't mind him. Sometimes he is a childish twenty year old boy." "Haha it's okay... I am twenty years old too." "That is funny" I say. We are walking for 10 minutes now. "Ten more minutes and we will be there" he says. When we finally arrive I see a huge house with a huge boat laying in the marsh. "Wow." "So this is the side of the kooks as you can see. Very rich people. Don't have to think if they have enough money when they buy something." He says. "Do you have kook friends?" I ask. He laughs. I feel a little embarrassed did I said something weird? "No I don't have kook friends. In the Outer banks it is kind of kooks between poques." Then all of the sudden I see a girl walking out of the big house. She seems pretty kind. She has blond hair and a slim body. "Do you know her?" "Yes that is Sarah Cameron. She is the kook princess of the outer banks. She is sweet though but her brother Rafe is an absolute drug addict. She has a sister wheezie I don't really know her she is thirteen I think. She seems sweet. Sarah has a boyfriend Topper. He is friends with Rafe. Sarah's dad once was a poque but he worked so hard so now he is a kook. His wife is Rose. The stepmom. She is a bitch." "Well that is much information." "Yes it is." My phone rings it is my dad. "Hey sweetheart where are you?" "A boy from the neighbourhood came up to me and asked me if I wanted a tour and I said yes so we are walking around." "That's okay but make sure your home in twenty minutes mom will be home then and we will eat when she is home." "Yes I will. See you then. Bye." "Bye bye" I hear and then I hang up. "That was my dad I have to be home in twenty minutes." "Okay let's go home then." The boy says. Then I realise I don't even know the name of the boy. "Uhmm what is your name I can't remember that you told me." "Haha no that is right I didn't even thought about it. My name is Riley." "My name is Evie. And I love your name though."Thanks. He says.

When we arrive at my home we say goodbye. "Tomorrow I'll show you the poque side of the island. It is way more fun I promise" "Deal!" I say. I walk to the front door and ring my mom opens the door. "Already found a boy?" She says while she blinked at me. "No mom! He is just a boy from the neighbourhood. He lives in the house behind us." "He seems nice." "Yes he is" I say.

That evening is sit alone in my room. When my mom walks in. "Hey" "Hi" I say. "How do you feel about his new adventure. The house, the area the people." "I think the people are very sweet. I love the area it is so beautiful. And I do love my new room" "That is nice to hear sweetheart." "I am going to help your dad and your brother." "Yes that is okay" She walks out of my room. I finally have some time alone. I am walking over to my bed. I have a bed for two persons. I am grabbing a blanket and my laptop. I am going to watch a Netflix show. When I wake up I take a look at my clock. It is 11:46 pm. I felt asleep. I walk up to my closet and grab my pyjamas and put them on. Then I walk up to the bathroom where is find my mother brushing their teeth. She looks at me like I am a spook. "Hi mom." "Hi" she says with the toothbrush still in het mouth. I wash my face and brush my teeth. "I felt asleep while I was watching a Netflix show. So I am going to sleep right know I am so tired" "Sleep well" she says. I walk up to my room and close my curtains. I lay down in my bed and fall asleep.
