Take Me Home

"Take me home, Nick….please."

Nick's eyes fluttered open and he groaned softly, feeling drowsy. The room he woke up in was not the room he'd fallen asleep in. He licked his lips, still wondering if it was the soup that made him sleep. Allowing himself to sit up, he looked for Brian. Wasn't Brian just here in the room? There was shouting out in the hallway but it was muffled due to the door being closed.

"Is someone there? Brian?" Nick asked softly. Sienna appeared in the doorway, her violet eyes watchful.

“I see you are awake, my son. You've had an accident...how are you feeling?” she said as she walked over, reaching for him to comfort him. Nick jerkrf back and scowled at her with hate in his eyes.

"You're not my mother, Sienna. You put me to sleep, didn’t you? You drugged that soup." Nick commented, ignoring her attempt to comfort him like last time. Nick wondered if she had been successful in her memory wipe last time, because it would explain why he didn’t remember anything when he woke up then. Sienna frowned, as if she were disappointed. She walked towards him and Nick looked past her at the door, hearing the shouting in the hallway. It sounded like AJ yelling.

"Yes. I suppose that you remember everything, then?”

“Where’s Brian?” Nick asked hesitantly, backing away from her as she walked towards the table. He felt his heart beat faster from anxiety alone, he’d never tried to connect with Brian before and he didn’t even know how to do it- but he closed his eyes and tried to concentrate on him. He pictured Brian vividly in his mind and mentally called for him.

“He can’t hear you.” Sienna said, still smiling at him. Nick frowned and kept trying to reach Brian telepathically. He wasn’t sure if he was even doing it right. How did she know what he was thinking?

“Brian?”

Nick opened his eyes wide, his heart nearly pounding out of his chest when there was no reply. He got up and ran past Sienna through the open door and into the hallway on the ship, running as fast as his legs could carry him. He screamed Brian’s name but there was no answer. Instead he found Brian laying on the floor, AJ desperately trying to wake him by shaking him. He looked up at Nick in shock.

“Y-you’re awake?” AJ stammered. Nick nodded, kneeling down in front of Brian. He started to cry when he felt how cold Brian was already. His skin was like ice, and that was not a good sign. He was unconscious, his breath shallow. Brian was dying.

“I woke up after he left….after he left the room….” Nick sobbed.

AJ heard Sienna coming down the hall and knew that they didn’t have much time. He tried to snap Nick out of whatever trance he was in, because Nick had started crying and forgot what was going on. He was too concentrated on the fact that Brian was dying to do anything else.

“Can’t you heal him? Like….like you did in the infirmary. Brian told me that you healed him. Aren’t you a Healer?” AJ said, shaking Nick’s arm gently with his hand.

“I can try.” Nick said nervously. He placed his hands over Brian, hovering them over his chest and stomach, closing his eyes and concentrating. He could feel his own energy leaving his body but it didn’t seem to affect Brian's  at all. AJ watched with interest, making sure his gun was at his side in case they were attacked. Nick suddenly felt weak and he lost concentration.

“Nick!” AJ said as he noticed Nick slump over. He managed to catch him and Nick’s eyelids fluttered before he opened them again.

“I-I’m fine….but I don’t think I healed him. He doesn’t look any better. What am I going to do?” Nick asked, his eyes full of panic as he looked at AJ. AJ sat next to Nick, trying to think of an answer when he saw Sienna coming towards them down the hall.
