"I HAVEN'T HEARD THIS SONG SINCE HIGHSCHOOL!" Akaashi chuckled softly at the sight of Bokuto singing his heart out. The radio was singing but Bokutos voice easily towered over. The soft sounds only reaching the witness's ears when the ace's singing stopped. You would think that the singing would disturb the peace of nature that settled around the place, but somewhere along the way it had come to be a part of it. The rain's pitter-patter that a whisper could cover, the city's lights drowned out in the nights grandeur, the AC's breeze similar to that of the outside. It was the epitome of serenity. It was so overwhelmingly comforting... like a parent baking chocolate chip cookies after you've fallen or lost a soccer game. Akaashi let his eyelids fall, the feeling similar to that of a blanket, whilst he laid his head back on the cool glass of the passenger seat's side window. His head and the window danced together in equality with the road's roughness.
"Brings back memories huh Bokuto-san?"
Bokuto pressed his foot on the brake for the glowing red light in front of them. His voice rang out as his eyes rested on Akaashi.
"It really does. I don't think i can remember the last time we hung out like this." Bokuto said as he took a quick glance at Akaashi.
"Me neither! I'm just glad that we could meet up though." Akaashi said with his eyes still closed, Wake me up later, we can switch so you don't have to drive all night."
"Aye aye captain!" Bokuto beamed as he turned up the radio and started bopping his head to the beat. But as usual, his hair didn't move since it was loaded with Gell. Seconds passed into minutes, as minutes passed into hours, hours that they'd never get back, but Bokuto was okay with that. He glanced at the pretty setter sleeping beside him. He didn't even bother to nudge him awake. Akaashi seemed at peace. Bokuto ruffled the peacefully sleeping setter's hair, careful not to wake him up.
"Come on Bokuto you can make it there. Only a few more hours till we get there." He'd been driving for 3 hours. Now, it seemed like he had been driving for centuries. His eyes were drowsy and had to forcefully keep his eyes open. It was then when he finally woke up sleeping beauty.
"Pssst Akaashi. Wake up let's switch now." He whispered in a hushed tone.
"Akaashi?" He put one hand on the wheel and the other on his friends' shoulder. He was distracted and his eyes weren't on the road. Akaashi didn't wake up until a sudden break jerked the both of them forward. Akaashi rubbed his eyes open.
"What was that about Bokuto-san?"
"THAT SCARED THE SHIT OUT OF ME OH MY GOSH. An animal was passing by when i was trying to wake you up. The audacityyyyy."
"That scared me too." Akaashi chuckled before he signaled for the white and black haired boy to switch seats with him. The second they switched seats Bokuto dozed off into a deep sleep.
"Sorry for not waking up earlier Bokuto-san." He gently patted his head and started up the car. The radio began to disconnect and all you could hear was static noises. They were almost at the destination until a car came speeding.
"Are you kidding me?" The boy said as he stared in annoyance. Another dark colored car came speeding frantically as it was running away from something.
"The headlights on their cars aren't even on! Are they trying to get into an accident?" Akaashi tried to move the car to the next lane so he lit up his headlight.
"Thank gosh it's not a street race like the one back ho-." There it was. The crash jerked both of them forward causing the setter to abruptly and subsequently open his eyes. Car pieces flew everywhere and the traffic built up despite there being such a small amount of drivers on the road this late. The airbags flew out like bugs that were just released from a jar. Akaashi held his head with both hands as the air around him started to become thinner and thinner. The cars' speed started to decelerate as seconds passed.
"These idiots are so stupid. Bokuto-san are you oka-" before the boy could finish his sentence he felt something drip from the side of his face. He touched the liquid and upon seeing what it was, he could do no more than stare in disbelief. He felt a sharp overwhelming pain in his head.
"Shit that's hurts." He winced but still couldn't take his eyes off of his blood-ridden hand. It was all too overwhelming. His hand dropped to his side and his eyes slowly shut despite him desperately trying to search for his friend. He lost his energy all at once. Bokuto immediately turned his head although there was little to no moving space. He checked to hear what the thud was. That's when he saw.
"Akaashi?" Bokuto nudged the lifeless looking friend beside him to try to awake him but he didn't move one bit. He nudged him a little harder than before.
"Akaashi. Come on wake up that's not funny." He said with a look of fear and pain in his eyes. He was so focused on Akaashi that he didn't even notice himself/his surroundings. The boy who got him through highschool laid there lifeless. The car was on it's side now. All he could see was his friends' blood ridden face. His vision started to blurr.
"No no this isn't happening it's just a stupid dream. I was sleeping earlier it's just a bad dream. Come on Bokuto wake up wake up." He frantically said as he began to slap himself. The spiker became silent.
"If it was a dream it wouldn't hurt. W...Would it?" He choked on his words. The poor boy couldn't even cry or keep his eyes open. The exhaustion was too much to bear. He tried to ignore it off but it wasn't even a fair fight. As he closed his eyes, the last thing he saw was Akaashi's blood painting his hand like a portrait. Akaashis' memory of them hanging together on the "perfect night" would end like this? Could this night get any worse?
