The sound of someone's foot repeatedly tapping the floor was accompanied by the sound of people rushing from one room to another, and the vague noise of the radio playing music. 𝚆𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚒𝚜 𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚜 𝚙𝚕𝚊𝚌𝚎? 𝚆𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚎 𝚊𝚖 𝙸? The setters' eyes slowly but surely flickered open like broken lights before they can properly turn on. He helped himself sit up on the white bed he was laying on. He observed the peach-colored room with a look of confusion on his face. That's when he saw the person who was nervously tapping their feet. The black haired boy beside him looked up to see what the rustling noise was. Their eyes interlocked and his eyes and face lit up.
"Akaashi! You're finally awake. I was so worried when I heard about what happ-" Kuroo stopped speaking as he noticed the puzzled expression that was taking over Akaashi's face. The two boys just stared at each other for who knows how long with looks that screamed 'Huh' and 'Is something wrong?'. They both snapped out of it when the doctor walked into the room.
"Doctor! How did the tests go? Everything is fine right?" Kuroo asked with a nervous tone arising in his voice. Now Akaashi was even more confused. 𝙰 𝚍𝚘𝚌𝚝𝚘𝚛? 𝚆𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚝𝚎𝚜𝚝𝚜? The doctor forced a small smile onto his face before he spoke. The words that fell out oh his mouth shattered Kuroos heart like a bullet being shot through glass. He stared back and forth at the doctor and Akaashi.
"That's not true. You're joking. Maybe you just got something wrong. Could you double check?" He turned to Akaashi who wasn't paying any attention.
"Akaashi." The setter was in a daze, "AKAASHI!" The setter turned his head and stared but quickly went back to looking out the window. He still didn't respond. A sigh escaped the volleyball ball players' mouth. "A moment please doctor."
"Of course. Please call the nurses or me if anything occurs." He sighed as he walked out of the room. Kuroo tapped the daydreaming setter on the shoulder. Akaashi turned his head and looked at him.
"Yes? Can i help you?" Why was he being so polite? Does he really not remember? Usually he'd just smile and ask if Bokuto is with me. Surely he was joking.
"It's me! Kuroo! You know, Bokuto's friend. We practiced together tons of times before." A nervous chuckle escaped Kuroo's lips like a bird flying away from it's cage. They both opened their mouths to talk so, Kuroo nodded his head to signal for the disorientated boy beside him to speak first.
"I don't mean to sound rude in anyway but.."
"𝔾𝕠 𝕒𝕙𝕖𝕒𝕕! Don't worry." He encouraged.
"Uhm. 𝚂𝚑𝚒𝚝 𝚠𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚒𝚏 𝙸 𝚍𝚘 𝚜𝚘𝚞𝚗𝚍 𝚛𝚞𝚍𝚎? 𝙻𝚎𝚝'𝚜 𝚐𝚎𝚝 𝚒𝚝 𝚘𝚟𝚎𝚛 𝚠𝚒𝚝𝚑 Aka-. 𝚆𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚠𝚊𝚜 𝙸 𝚐𝚘𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚝𝚘 𝚜𝚊𝚢? 𝚆𝚑𝚢 𝚍𝚒𝚍 𝚒 𝚜𝚊𝚢 𝙰𝚔𝚊- 𝚒𝚜 𝚝𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚊 𝚌𝚘𝚍𝚎 𝚗𝚊𝚖𝚎? *he paused for a few seconds* Kuroo tilted his head in confusion as he wondered what question the setter was going to ask him. He was in a daze.
"Akaashi?" The boy said softly. Akaashi snapped out of it.
