[Hinata is running to the gym of Karasuno High School.]

My first and last official match of junior high... My team was defeated.
My opponent was the "King of the Court." I'll get my revenge against that King!
That's what I pledged before starting at Karasuno High School. But...

Hinata sees Kageyama in the gym practicing by himself.He walks in the gym room to get a closer look to know for sure.

"Why is he here?!"

Why... Why is this guy at Karasuno? No... Maybe he's just a lookalike...

(Flashback) "What are you doing here, anyway?"
(Flashback) "You make it sound so easy."
(Flashback) "I'll be the last one standing."
(Flashback) "What were you doing for the last three years?!"

No, no. There's no mistake. This guy is Kageyama Tobio!

"I met you last year...",
"But I don't know your name."

"Huh?! M-My name is Hinata Shouyou."
"You probably don't remember the team you beat in the first match!"

"I remember you very well."

Your well-developed physical agility and reflexes... But he doesn't put any of it to good use.

Kageyama stares at Hinata without saying anything.

"What? You wanna fight?!"

"You were lousy!"

"D-Don't make fun of me!"
"Sure, we got slaughtered by you guys, but next time, I won't lose!"

Kageyama continues to stare at Hinata,like he is analyzing him and learning everything from just looking at home.

"Er... That's what I pledged to myself, so what are you doing here?"Hinata questions then continues,
"How can I defeat you if we're on the same team? ","Shouldn't you be at some other school with strong players? ","Why didn't you go there?"

Kageyama looks away, the irritation showing in his face.

"The strongest school in the prefecture... rejected me."

"You didn't make it? ","Even though you're the King of the Court?"

"Don't call me that!"Kageyama utters while gritting his teeth.

"Huh?"

Sawamura, Sugawara, and Tanaka are talking in the distance outside.

"The first setter of Kitagawa is on our team?"

"But the guy's totally cocky."Tanaka whines.

"Don't try and intimidate him, okay?"

"I-I wouldn't do something like that."
Sawamura, Sugawara, and Tanaka enter the gym.To their surprise,it's both of the contestants they saw going up against eachother in middle school.

"Hello."Kageyama says.
Tanaka makes an intimidating face like he's teasing him.

"Hey, hey, hey! Who said you guys could --"

"You're Kageyama?"

"Yes."Hinata slowly moves to behind Sawamura,Sugawara, and Tanaka.

"Glad you're here."

"You're quite tall."

"He needs an initiation, Suga-san!","Let's give him a reason to be intimidated by the third-years!"

"Tanaka, stop with that face."

Kageyama is slightly taller. But high-schoolers are kinda big...
That's right. I'm at Karasuno now. Alright...
"Hello!"Hinata says while poking his chest out.
