Charapter five - girlfriend & boyfriend

It's been a year, Yagami and I are actual besties now and still talking like the first day we met. Nothing changed, not a bit.

The only thing that happened plenty months ago is the Kira case. Known by nearly every single person on this planet.
I've been quite disgusted by it, sure, they're criminals but I still don't think that they deserve death. And now it got out of hand, he's killing even innocent people and citizens. I hate him and wonder who the hell it is..

I scoffed and went to watch some tv show that was one of my favorites. When it finished It was around eleven o'clock. Light sent me an email on my phone with an invitation to the park. I was quite confused but it's not like Light would murder me, right?

"Hello Light!" I greeted him when I saw him sitting on a bench in the campus.
"Hey y/n.." He said while looking deep into my eyes.
"So why did you invite me here?" I asked as I sat next to him and looked into the starry night.
"You know y/n, there's something I wanted to tell you for a long time now.." he turned his head towards me, looked me in my eyes once again and kissed me.

"I love you" he said softly and stared at my lips. Not going to lie, I didn't expect that. I'd never guessed that he would confess.. But I had to answer as I felt. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes.
"I-i love you too" I stuttered and hid my red face with my hands.
"Still shy around me, hm?" Said Light and looked at me. Again.
I took all of the courage that was in me, put my shaky hands off of my face, placed them on his shoulders and went in for a kiss. I felt his soft lips on mine, felt him smiling through the kiss and most importantly felt him.
It truly was something, something that I wished for so long and It gave me butterflies, not those angry wasps that you have when you're anxious and uncomfortable but those cute butterflies that were dancing in your stomach.

I pulled away since I couldn't quite catch breath and my cheeks were redder than blood. I looked away and quietly sat next to him, thinking about what I've just done.

"Where did all the boldness went?" He said, smiling and reaching for my hand.
"You're shaking, am I that scary to you?" He said chuckling and hugging me since he knew me long enough to know that I'm not capable of doing much when feeling like this.
He then kissed my forehead and whispered really close to my ear: "Glad to finally make you my girlfriend~" the word 'girlfriend' gave me goosebumps around my neck but I got myself to say at least: "I'm glad too" really quietly and buried my head in his chest once again.

~the next month, afternoon ~

I was walking out of my class with handful of my books and notes, struggling to not let them all fall on the ground.

I still couldn't quite believe that I'm taken, taken by Light fucking Yagami. The boy I've loved or at least had a huge crush on for a past year. It's unbelievable.
"Oi, let me help you with that" said Light, rushing towards me, offering me a hand.
"Oh, I was just thinking about you.." I said while putting all of the books to him, "As you should be" he said while walking next to me.

"Can you come over to my house today? Like right now?" he continued and I just nodded.
I was spending there less time since last year but it's nothing too strange. He never was at my place anyways.

We came to his room, no-one's at home. And I pretty much got used to it, his father's always at work because of the Kira case and mother's often at her friends since she needs some emotional support in this situation, constantly worrying about her husband.

He took me upstairs and we sat down on his bed. "So y/n, I have a favor. Could you possibly buy me some recording tapes? I'll give you money, don't worry about that." He said, looking at the ground and then me.
"Why you won't buy them yourself? You're scared of coming outside or something? I thought your bit bolder than that.. What if I don't want to?" I said, teasingly.
He stared into my eyes, quickly turned and pinned me down.
"Well that'd be certainly a disappointment to me.." he said while looking down at me. At my pink cheeks and hands in my face.
"You're always oh so bold and then shy as a child" he laughed and flicked my forehead with his fingers.
"Ouch, I'm not a child!" I said while holding onto it and continuing, "but fine, I'll buy you the stupid tapes." I said whilst holding onto my arms and leaning back to relax a bit.
"Thank you, y/n. I really appreciate that." He said and sat behind me. He wrapped his hands around my waist and put his head onto my shoulder.
"I'm quite bored now, shall we do something?" I said while looking around the room.
"I don't know but I really gotta go on a toilet now" he said as he walked out of this room.

I got up and looked around, there were photo frames, schoolwork, books with thick layer of dust on top of it and the top drawer that he was so careful about.
I opened the drawer and saw a book with 'diary' written on top. All of that fear for a diary?
I looked at it and as I was about to look if there's anything else in there Light came into the room and quickly walked up to me. "Well someone sure is snooping around in here" he said as he closed the drawer and locked it.

"Why are you so insecure about your Diary? Do you have something so valuable written in there?" I said while sitting on his chair next to the desk.
"Well I don't know, why are you?" He replied with that well known smirk of his. "What do you mean?" I asked while being confused and scared at once.
"Well, you see, I had the chance to look through yours and I indeed know everything about you, little girlie. What do you like, what do you dislike, what makes you mad, sad, happy,.. I know your deepest desires. So yeah, that's why." He said while being dangerously close to me.
"W-when d-did you read it?" I asked, scared because I knew really well what kinda things were in there and how personal it was. There were things about Light too, a lot of actually.

"Do you remember last week, when you were here with that huge bag of yours? Well you left it on the bed and I just couldn't resist to read it." He said while staring into my soul. "But whatever, let's keep that on sometime else."

After we watched a movie or two Light turned on the main channel on the tv and went to take some leftovers so we don't starve to death.
I watched it and listened to the news. It was about Kira so I got bit excited when they said that they have a prime suspect already.

"Exactly, the hq and Japan police have a suspect that is most likely Kira. However we're not completely sure due to lack of evidence, I'd be glad if anyone that know something about this case immediately contact us."

I watched the screen as the electric voice said the message and big 'L' as the illustration picture.
"Yeah, sure they know." Light said sarcastically from the kitchen. "He call himself detective but don't even have evidence? Tch, more like a clown" he added as he leaned onto the table.

"I'm glad that they're trying. I mean, I won't be so sad if they finally caught him" I said while still having my eyes on the tv screen. When he was silent for a second and I was impatiently waiting for his reply I looked at him. He just did a 'I don't know what to say, but I guess ok' with his shoulders and sat next to me.

"So you don't want to catch Kira? I thought you are working on it with L, no?" I said quite carefully because I could see how his eyes turned colder. "Wait, that's stupid question I'm sorr-" I wanted to say because I was kind of guilty that I asked such a pathetic question, the last thing I want right now is some stupid argument.
"No, it's alright. Yes, of course I work for him but I am not quite sure about his investigation techniques. But yeah, I surely want to catch Kira so I can clear my name" he said while looking down.
What? Clear his name? Does the L perhaps suspect him?
Confused thoughts started crossing my mind and I was pretty much overwhelmed by it. "What do you mean by that? Does L suspect you? Why?" I quickly said while nervously playing with the handle of my tea that was, again cold by now.
"Oh, I haven't told you? L suspect me and I found it quite offensive actually. He really doesn't have the evidence so I'm not sure how he came to this conclusion." He said while taking his eyes off the ground.
"So the 'prime suspect' is you?" I asked, more concerned now and looked into his eyes that were already staring into mine.

"Yes, unfortunately yes." He said and after some time added: "But I'll try to prove him that he's wrong and that I'm not some cold blooded criminal." He laughed a bit to lighten the atmosphere and turned the tv off.
I checked the time and it was something around four o'clock and I wanted to do some stuff like buy the groceries, buy the tapes and relax a bit since I really needed this.

I got my things, hugged Light and left the house. How strange is it? Light and Kira?
What a bullshit.
