Ever pulled herself onto her hands and knees. She felt the sweat gather on her forehead from the scorching fire burned on the surrounding ground, its grey flames illuminating the area. Her face was covered in scratches and bruises, while her hair was falling over her shoulders and halfway down her back.
"Is that really all you've got?" a male voice mocked her. It was a smooth, tenor voice, charm filling every word he said.
Rising to her feet, Ever could feel every injury she had stinging just like they had when she was given them. Her skin was fair and her fiery eyes matched the violet color of her hair.
"Of course, I'm not done," she said smiling, "You should know I have more fight in me than that..."
Chapter 1 of "White Light: Rising" will be released on September 1st, 2022.
