Chapter 5: Elpis vs. Gray
"Come at me, Ice boy, or are you too afraid of Water Dragon slaying magic?" Taunted Elpis, grinning at him widely. There was a look of determination in her eyes that told Saxe she was going to win it.
Gray rolled his eyes at her, "I don't even need my Devil slaying to beat you, Elpis. My Ice-Make is more than enough."
Saxe saw Erza shake her head out of the corner of his eye, "He shouldn't underestimate her. She has just as much magic power as him, if not more."
Saxe turned his eyes back to the fight that was about to happen. Both of them were ready to fight, as if they had already known beforehand that they would challenge each other. Elpis shed her cloak and stood there wearing nothing but her regular clothes. It made sense, after all, extra clothing would just get in the way of the two of them.
Saxe turned towards where Natsu had been not long ago and found that he wasn't there. Saxe dismissed the thought that he may be in trouble, as he most likely just went to meet his friend, Lucy. Worrying about it would just distract him from the fight though, so he turned back towards it once more. He found that Elpis and Gray had begun to circle each other, each waiting for the other to cast a spell.
Saxe watched as Gray brought his hands together and cast his first spell. "Ice-Make Dragon!"
Saxe's jaw dropped as a giant dragon, at least eighty feet in length, erupted from Gray's closed hands into the sky above them. It was one of the largest creatures Saxe had seen in his life. The dragon was dark blue across its body and it's underbelly was a lighter gradient of the dark blue on the body. It's tail curled into a long point, dozens of icicles sticking out from it, and it's claws were large enough to fully engulf a fully grown person. The dragon's jaw was equally as large, coming out into a long, pointed snout. It's eyes, however, were nothing but clear ice, no color other than blue even visible in them. Perhaps the most horrific thing about the creature were its wings, which were nothing but dark blue ice shaped into a skeletal shape.
Whereas Saxe had been entranced by the creation, Elpis didn't seem fazed in the slightest. Saxe found that when he had been looking at Gray's spell, Elpis had cast one of her own. She was holding her bow tightly and her hand was notched on a thin line of water that ran from each tip of the bow to the other. Saxe watched as Elpis pulled back on the line. As if out of thin air, three arrows made entirely of water appeared on the string. Elpis released and pulled back nine times in the span of a few seconds, letting loose twenty-seven water arrows directly into the sky. The arrows soared high into the sky within two seconds of them being shot, and Saxe could no longer see them.
Gray looked up and laughed, "You missed, Elpis. Those won't do anything to my dragon, and now you're completely defenseless!" Gray pushed his hands forwards and the dragon surged in the direction Gray was facing, directly towards Elpis. Saxe was about to call out a warning to her, but she sidestepped the massive creature and watched as it continued onwards for a little while. Gray turned his hands to face his body and the dragon leaped into the air, turning its body around so it could face Gray. Gray kept turning his body towards Elpis and the dragon continued to pursue her. It was hopeless though, as each time the dragon lunged towards her, Elpis gracefully dodged. Eventually Elpis, instead of dodging, turned to face it head on. She had her hands raised and she brought her hands down in a sweeping motion. Saxe watched in amazement as each of the arrows that had been shot earlier hurled down from the sky directly into the ice dragon's head. The arrows moved back and forth through the entirety of the body once the head had been pierced. The attack from Elpis was so quick that the dragon has burst into millions of little pieces of ice. Some of the pieces ended up flying in Elpis' direction, but instead of dodging, she simply raised a wall of water in front of her that hardened into ice and prevented any pieces from injuring her. Once all the ice pieces had fallen to the ground, Elpis transformed the ice wall back into water and allowed it to fall to the ground.
