As she glanced at a toppled over truck, our protagonist blinked a few times. She slowly recovered consciousness and turned to face the gathering crowd.

"Whew...that was close..." She shook her head and turned to walk away, but she couldn't move for some reason. She raised an inquisitive brow and attempted to move again, but she was locked in place; she peered down and noticed nothing amiss with her feet.

"What the hell is going on?" She muttered to herself as she raised her leg to inspect the soles of her shoes. She felt a shiver run up her spine and her eyes widened as she raised her leg.

"Did this guy...just walk right through me?" After the guy sprinted past, she mumbled to herself and turned around.

A crowd had gathered, some of whom were on the phone with supposedly 911.

A fire truck and cop cars arrived a few minutes later, and the mob was promptly dispersed. A cop ran right past her immobilized form, as if she didn't exist.

She remained motionless...

Confused...

Why wasn't anyone speaking to her?

...Why did they just-

That's when she realized something was wrong.

As the firefighters gathered around the overturned truck, an arm protruded from beneath it, its fingers twitching slightly.

She approached the truck cautiously and in a stupor.

She was still dazed as she glanced down. "...Oh...I see..."  The twitching fingers came to a halt and rested limply against the bloody concrete.

"....Ha..Haha..HAhahAHA. I'm fucking dead.." She remarked while looking down at her arm, which was still buried beneath the enormous truck. As she wiped away tears overflowing the corners of her eyes, she tightened her grip on her bag straps. "...I'm no longer alive..."

It was as if everything was moving at a snail's pace for her. The firefighters started to work lifting the truck off the ground, as cops warned people to stay away and blocked the road, while an ambulance arrived on the scene.

The truck suddenly emits a bright light, leading Y/n to shield her eyes with her arm.

She cautiously lowered her arm and peered around once the light had dimmed. She took a peek around and noticed that there were no buildings, people, or her bag.

"What in the world happened?? What happened to my bag?" She screamed, her eyes darting across the room.

"Woah. Young one, take it easy." The sound of a gentle, deep voice startled our protagonist even more. They were sweating profusely because their words didn't seem to soothe her down.

"What is this place! ....Wait..am I in Heaven?" She inquired, her eyes narrowed as she took in her surroundings.

"Sort of...More like in-between." The owner of the voice has finally been disclosed. They had a pristine white garment that completely engulfed them, and a dazzling light shone from their face.

Y/n returned the figure's stare with squinted eyes; no matter how much she tried to open them, they hurt, so she kept them slightly open.

As they glanced down at the young lady, the figure sighed. "You sad thing...It wasn't your time yet..."
