hinata had almost forgotten what school meant. almost.
tsukishima awaited him at the school gates.
"hey shrimpy." he called sarcastically. "want to go check out your new locker?"
hinata sighed. every day, always the same. like come on, this four-eyed freak had got to have a bigger brain than one only able to produce the same trio of jokes and pranks every single day. crumbs dropped from shoyo's blazer as he wandered towards his locker. he was expecting something terrible. you know, some writing saying an insult or the locker to be trashed.shoyo gasped. a single piece of paper was stuck onto the door of the locker. delicate handwriting that shoyo had not seen before had been carefully printed in fine ink. it read:
"meet me under the tree." a small heart sat next to the message.
"a-"
"who's your lover, shrimp?"
"yea! who is it!"
"nobody!" shoyo cried, embarrassment seeping into his face. he was so annoyed right now. it felt like steam was forming in his ears. instead of freeing his rage, he ran away, as fast as he could. he darted down the corridors and out into the school courtyard. it was silent again. long grass tickled shoyos shins and a fly buzzed around his bag, clearly sensing his half eaten breakfast. the sky was bright and illuminated by the beaming sun. they lit up the night. shoyo glanced to his side. there he could see the cherry blossom tree swaying in the cool wind.
a figure waited beneath its perfect, pink blossoms. a tall figure with black hair and blue eyes.
"t-tobio?"
"yes." he replied. his voice was stern and indifferent. slowly tobio approached shoyo. he held out a pale hand in shoyo's direction. his face was grim but a touch of emotion, a caring emotion, flickered in his deep eyes. shoyo sensed it. he took the boy's hand carefully and stared at him.
"do you want," he paused. it felt like he was about to say something that would change everything. once shoyo had heard the words, he didn't think they made a difference to his life, but boy, how he was wrong.
"do you want to be my friend..?"
