As the Prince crumples to the floor, his life slowly ebbing away, I climb out of the window and leap into space. As I land on a citizen's roof, a horn sounds the alarm. I take off, hearing thuds behind me, telling me the guards are in pursuit. While I jump from roof to roof, I head in the direction of the gate. The laboured breaths behind me mean my pursuers are tiring so I put on a spurt of speed. I notice that I'm running out of roofs and that the gate was closed and barred so that only left one option.

For the second time that night I took a leap of faith. And clung on to the perimeter wall. As I scrabble around, looking for footholds, I see out of the corner of my eye bow strings being pulled taught. A ping and then a arrow glances off the wall, about a metre from my head. A warning shot. That means they want be alive.

At last, a foothold! I didn't stop, didn't think, I just hauled myself over the wall and dropped 20 foot.
