Wings of Fire: Absolution is a complimentary text to Winston Clay's Wings of Fire: Retribution, a Wings of Fire fan-written story set ninety-five years after the events of series' first arc as written by Tui T. Sutherland. This work, and its parent work Retribution, are both fan-made features which reserve no rights to Mrs. Sutherland's original work. All rights to the characters, settings, and events of the Wings of Fire series are disposed to Tui T. Sutherland and the Wings of Fire publisher, Scholastic Corporation.

Absolution is not intended as a standalone work; it is recommended that the reader first read Mrs. Sutherland's complete Wings of Fire series and Winston's Retribution prior to reading Absolution. Many of the characters, events, and settings herein are much better enjoyed with prior knowledge of this story's context.

This story, contrary to Tui's Wings of Fire, is a first-person, episodic work that focuses on the day-to-day challenges of Truthseeker's band of rebels. In particular, this story follows Cormorant, a daring and inventive MudWing lieutenant under Truthseeker's command. The intent of this story is to counterbalance Retribution's darker motifs of revenge and turmoil with more lighthearted themes of friendship and self-initiative.

I hope you enjoy Wings of Fire: Absolution. Winston and I are very excited about our collaborative work, and we hope you feel the same way. The Wings of Fire universe is a fantastic setting rife with opportunities for marvelous adventure, intense rivalry, tender romance, and plenty of absurd high jinks, as you will soon learn. It is truly a great backdrop for fan-written work. We had a lot of fun writing this story, and look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Without further adieu, I present to you: Absolution.

All the best,

Connor Kuczkowski
