Maya's POV
My alarm went off and rolled out of my bed like always. Beginning a new school year. Ugh. Well at least I have my best friends, Lucas and Farkle. I got out of bed and heard a knock at my window. I know who it is.
"Morning." Lucas said stepping into my room
"Hey." I said
"Ready for a new school year?" Lucas asked trying to make it sound exciting
"No." I said
"Well at least u have cheerleading to look forward to." Lucas said
"U just like seeing us in spandex." I said packing my backpack
"Yea pretty much." Lucas said
"And u have football." I said
"Yeah, but u hate watching practices." Lucas said
"But I don't hate watching the hot guys in uniforms." I said throwing my backpack over my shoulder
"Whatever let's just go we have to meet Farkle at school early." Lucas said
"Why?" I asked
"He needs help with something." Lucas said
"Ok. Let's go." I sighed

We're at the football field. Farkle wants to try out for the football team, so Lucas is helping him practice.
"Guys!" I yelled from the sidelines
"What?" Lucas yelled
"I'm bored!" I said
"Well then come throw the football ball with us." Lucas suggested
"Fine." I said
I walked onto the field and grabbed the ball from Lucas's hand. I tried throwing it, but it just went like 2ft. The boys started laughing.
"Well it's my first time throwing a football!" I said upset
"Relax, I help u." Lucas said
He came behind me and grabbed my arm. He put the football in my hand and wrapped his hand around my hand.
"Ready?" He asked me
"Yea" I said
He pulled back my arm and then he threw the ball. It went like so far! I mean he threw it, but I kinda did too.
"Wow!" I said
"Lucas teach me how to throw like that!" Farkle said
"Um dude, I'm not touching u like I did to Maya." Lucas laughed
"Well then how am I supposed to learn how to throw that far?" Farkle asked
I looked at Lucas and he looked back at me. I nodded up and down telling him he had too, but he didn't want to.
"Don't worry Farkle! He'll teach u the same way!" I said
"But Maya-"
"I'll let u come to the next cheer practice." I said
"Ok. I'll do it." Lucas sighed
"Do it for the spandex Lucas!" I laughed as he walked across the field
"Shut up!" He yelled as I laughed

"I hear there's a new girl."Farkle said sitting down
"Farkle, it's a new school year, there will be new students." Lucas said
"Yea, but this girl's father, is our history teacher." Farkle said
"Really?" I asked
"Yea I heard it this morning." Farkle said
"From who?" I asked
"Rebel." Farkle said
"I'm gonna go talk to him." I said standing up
"Why?" Lucas asked
"Do I need a reason?" I asked
"Well, no, but u never talk to him." Lucas
"Ok? So?" I asked
Lucas was about to say something but the bell cut him off. I sat back down in my seat. I don't really know why I wanted to talk to Rebel, but I mean I've talked to him before, so why was Lucas so weird about it?
"See that's Riley, the new girl. And that's her father, the history teacher." Farkle said pointing to each of them as they walked in
"Good morning class, I'll be your new history teacher this year. My name is Mr. Matthews." he said

I walked to my locker. Today was such a long first day. Lucas and Farkle came up behind me.
"Maya, we're going back to the field, u coming?" Lucas asked
"Yea, I'm gonna practice some cheers, let me just go get changed." I said grabbing my cheer bag
"Make sure u where spandex." Lucas smirked
"Perv" I scoffed walking off to the girl locker room
I got changed and then headed down to the field. I'm wearing my black spandex and a cheer shirt.
"Hey she wore spandex!" Lucas yelled
"Yea I did, now where's the uniform?" I asked
"Didn't bring it." Lucas said
"Of course u didn't." I said
I started doing some backflips and some layouts when I heard someone coming down to the field.
"Oh uh hi." She said
"Hey, UR Riley, right?" I asked
"Yea, I'm do u know where the library is?" She asked
"Yea it's that building over there." I said
"Thanks, hey what's ur name?" She asked
"Maya." I said
"Oh ur Maya Hart? I've heard so much about u! Well I have to go. I'll talk to u later." Riley said waving
"So u met Riley?" Farkle asked coming up behind me
I turned around to face them.
"Yea, she was nice." I said simply
"Cool, I met her during lunch, she's pretty." Farkle said
"Not as pretty as me though right?" I said flipping my hair
"Of course not Maya." Lucas said putting his arm around me
"So how'd practice go? Is Farkle team material?" I asked
"We have some work to do, but he should be ready by tryouts." Lucas said
"Cool! Now who's hungry?" I asked
"I am!" Both they boys yelled
