"Where did that storm come from? It doesn't rain here, like, ever, not like that anyway..."

Jake sat on the living room sofa, switching channels without really looking before stopping at a random one.

"Uh.. from the northwest, apparently," Trixie came out of the bathroom looking at her phone, having changed into a pair of pyjamas he lended her. "And it's only going to get worse" she added, sitting down next to him and showing him the temperature forecast for the week. Yes, it was the begining of December, but the temperatures were still suprisingly low.

"Who knows, maybe it'll finally snow" Jake quipped, although now it sounded posible.
Earlier, in the morning, the sky looked clear and the air was chilly at worst, like winter usually was. Suddenly, the skies clouded in minutes and rain started pouring down.
It was still, but less intensly.

They sat on silence for a bit, trying to figure out the plot of the movie that had been playing in the background. It was... about a girl trying to survive an apocalyptic event ending the world with her... boyfriend? Or something along those lines. "Hey" Jake pulled Trixie out of her trance, whose head quickly turned in his direction, offering her full atention. "Did you hear anything about the new girl?"

Trixie's eyebrows knitted. "What girl?"

"The one that's going to start working tomorrow in the office?" Her mouth open in realization, remembering the conversation their boss had on the phone, they both accidentally overheard about three days ago. Apparently she was from Russia and had a long name that neither of them could remember, and that's all they knew about her. "Yeah, no, I haven't." Jake was always kind of excited to make new friends, but Trixie was not so fond of the idea, she was pretty awkward when meeting new people.
But her curiosity did make her wonder what she would be like.

"I guess tomorrow we'll find out"
