Chapter 1

"Noooo!" I'm going to be late!" I scream in frustration as I look at the clock that reads 10:30 A.m. School doesn't start till 10:35! I quickly get dressed in a light blue blouse and some light colored jeans, along with the converse that match the blouse. I look at my auburn hair which is messily in a bun. I take the bun out and brush it fast.

"Mom! I have to go now!" I shout from the kitchen getting an apple for breakfast. As I was about to leave the house my mom replied "Alright Letha! Dont forget your bag again!" Shoot! I run to where my bag layed on the couch. I quickly grabbed it and ran out of the house fast.

I was a block away when I hear a carhorn, I only have one minute left, what now?! "Letha! Get your lazy butt in the car now before we are both late!" My best friend, Alice, shouts from the passenger side. "Ok, ok" I say rolling my eyes but thankful that they are saving me for the hundreth time. I look at Alice whos looking back at me expectantly as her Mom drives us fast to school.
"Fine!" I say raising my arms in defeat. " Thank you, Alice, and Mrs.Tiller, for saving my sorry little excuse of a lazy butt" I say rolling my eyes at Alice while she smiles like an idiot.
"No problem, Letha" Mrs.Tiller says.

"Hey Letha," Alice starts during our Lunch Break. "Yes, Alice?" I look at her then look back at my food poking a piece of lunch meat. " By any chance are you wearing any of those colored, costume contacts?" I drop my fork on the plate and stare at her shocked, why would she think that? "No why?" "Hold on" She says as she reaches into her bag and searches something. I shrug and was about to bite my mashed potatoes when she pulls her Compact mirror out. "Take a look" I looked at her confused, as she shoved it in my face. I sighed and took the mirror.

As soon as I looked in it and saw my eyes I dropped the mirror catching it easily. I dont know whats going on! I mean just in the morning I had brown eyes but now I have blue, and green! "What? How!" I say passing the mirror back to Alice. "How should I know?" Alice says with her eyes wide.

I shrug it off as the bell rings signaling us to go to our next class. And as always I ignore the whats going on in the farside of the hallway where cheerleaders are hoarding around. Most likely going all googly-eyed on a jock. I roll my eyes at this thought as I passed by. Then something catches my eye. I saw a flash of bright blue eyes. Which was unusual here, no one has bright blue eyes here. Unfortunatly I wasn't excited about this newcomer, new person means more pushing around for me. On the other hand I made it to 6th period class, History, yeah! (Note my sarcasm)

I walk to my usual seat next to the window out looking the forest. Suddenly in between of the lesson the door opens and what do you know, the new kid with the bright blue eyes. "Oh come on!" I mumble under my breath. "Class, this is Alexander Rando, our new student, please make him feel welcomed and," Mr.Blank looks around the room and stops at me, "Alexander you can sit next to Letha so she can have you caught up in the Lesson" Oh Come On!!! Really Mr.Blank, why me? I look as everyone else gives me death stares, and by everyone I mean all the girls in this class.

I bang my head on the desk annoyed as everyone stares at me. "So, uh, Letha, what are we doing?" Alexander whisper s to me as I still have my head on the desk. I take the notebook thats under my head and pass it to him " Here everything about the Civil War is in there," I say muffled by the desk. "Thanks" Alexander says grinning at me. Oh Brother!
