A/N: Hi! 👋
Before you read: I haven't changed that much on the Prolouge, I only went more in depth with what was already posted.
Hopefully you enjoy anyways.

Backstory:

Marinette was just 3 years old when her biological parents died after a fire in the temple of the guardians of the miraculous.

With nowhere left to go, the Guardians elder and leader, Wang Fu, begged for shelter by the leader of the League of Assassins, Ra's Al Ghul.
The two men had been in contact before, all be it a pure coincidence, and the old man agreed.

But not without a price. Because, to let the Order in, Ra's had to send away some of his own, who had to seek shelter by undercover allies - so called Shadows - all around the world.

Wang Fu offered what he could to Ra's: assure the Lazarus pit couldn't be destroyed and possibly be even more powerful or at least longer lasting than before thanks to one of the 'kwamis' as he called the tiny gods inside the jewellery. Lent some specifically picked members of the League some of the miraculouses.

As Ra's eyes shined by the mention of the last offer, Fu thought, he might have convinced the man.

  But he was wrong.

Because Ra's wanted to know Wu's heir, the next Guardian of the miraculous.

/Damian & Marinette are 5 years old/

Fire... screaming... chaos... heat... the voices of her parents... Her own desperate screams as one of the monks - who exactly she couldn't remember - dragged her away from their voices, away from them, telling her that they're sorry but that they couldn't let her die with them and that they couldn't be helped anymore... traveling for what seemied like days and weeks and could have just been one night to a big place, outstanding incredibly high into the night sky from the small bluenette's perspective... getting greeted by a man who seemed her grandfather's age - at least she was told that Master Fu was her grandfather - and a brunette woman, who both eyed her weirdly before telling her and her grandpa that they were sorry for her loss and that they would live here with them now... her grandfather looking apologetic and guilty for some reason as he let go of her hand and handed her over to the brunette woman, who took her to 'her new bedroom' ... the next morning when she searched for her parents, only to be told that they didn't survive the fire...

Marinette woke up screaming.
Shivers went down her spine and her nightgown had sweat stains from her nightmare. Trembling, she moved her covers away and crept out of her chamber into the one right next to hers.

Damian's doors were locked, but the girl knocked anyways.
And knocked again.
Whispered his name.
Knocked.
Then, finally, the Prince of Assassins opened the door.
"We really need a door in our shared wall", he muttered, rubbing his eyes. "What is the reason that you are awake and trembling at this hour, Marinette?"
He was obviously tired.
The girl pushed Damian aside and pressed him to the wall.

"May I sleep in your room tonight?"
More words weren't needed. Not only because Marinette knew that Damian would say yes anyways, but also because she asked the question out of formality, in case some of the League members were on patrol near their rooms.

Talia, Ra's as well as Fu didn't appreciate it when the children spoke to each other rudely.

If Damian had overheard a conversation of his mother and grandfather correctly, that was because they were to be wed someday, but who knew. Maybe they came up with another idea and did something else.
But if they were going to be betrothed soon, Damian didn't really have anything against it. But he also couldn't say that he liked the idea. Marinette would be in harm's way, if she truly did become his betrothed and he couldn't have that.
