𝐞𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐮𝐞

It's been four years since Connie and I have been together. Four years of countless jokes, fights, and laughs.

We both finished college and were living in an apartment together.

I was working my dream job while he became a preschool teacher, which was odd coming from some people by the piercings on his face and the tattoos on his arms.

But right now, we were both walking along the sidewalk to Paradise City, half of the ocean on one side, the bustling streets of the city on the other as we made our way to meet up with all of our friends for college.

We walked hand in hand, but even in the chilly wintertime, Connie's hands were sweaty as fuck. I didn't say anything, but it was really weird.

We were a street away from the meeting point, and I could just make out the silhouettes of my friends in the nighttime sky, but I was stopped by Connie.

"Wait here for thirty seconds." I squinted in confusion.

"What?" I asked but he sprinted away from me and towards our friends. "What the fuck?" I whispered, but I waited nonetheless.

I looked down at my watch to see thirty seconds had passed and then I began walking.

As I neared closer to my group of friends, I saw that candles illuminated their faces as they held them, and then when I was a meter away, they began...singing?

Ymir, Historia, Jean, Eren, Mikasa, Sasha, and Armin all opened their mouths and recited "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran.

While Ymir and Eren looked like they wanted to run away, the others all looked like they were about to full-on sob, especially Armin and Jean.

"When your legs don't work
like they used to before,

And I can't sweep you
off of your feet."

I covered my mouth to contain the laugher bubbling up in my chest as they all sang in surprisingly perfect harmony. But I couldn't contain my chuckles any longer when they began swaying and snapping.

"So honey now,

Take me into your
loving arms."

When they got to the chorus, Connie appeared from behind them with a bouquet of roses and a small box in his hand.

Then he bent to the ground on one knee.

I covered my mouth and my eyes began to water at what this meant.

"Y/n L/n," Connie started to say, a huge smile on his face. "I have loved you ever since the moment I laid eyes on you in preschool, and I have always loved you ever since. You complete me in every way. You are my person, and always will be."

"Oh my god," I whispered as Connie opened the box to reveal a diamond ring.

"Y/n, will you marry me and become my wife?" The others stopped singing, waiting for my answer. I had no hesitation in my response.

"Yes! Of course, I'll marry you, you dumbass!" I exclaimed and tackled Connie into a hug, knocking us both to the ground.

"She said yes!" Jean yelled out, tears and snot running down his face.

"Yeah, no shit, idiot," Eren muttered, but clapped with everyone else as Connie and I stood up and slipped the ring on my finger.

As Jean and Eren started to bicker like they always did, and the others tried to stop their fighting, Connie took my hand and kissed the palm of it.

"I love you."

I wiped a tear from my eyes and kissed him on the lips before enveloping him in a hug. "I love you too," I said back into his chest, his heartbeat thumping erratically in my ear.

"Forever and ever?" Connie joked while pulling my face to look back at his.

I nodded with a smile.

"Forever and ever."
