BETHANY

I woke up in my cold shabby room. Here goes another day of being called stupid, just because I can't tie my shoes or write my name. It's not my fault I have ADHD, the orphanage people told me that because I'm dumb, my mommy beat me. So I try to pretend that I'm smart, so no one will hurt me ever again.

The ratty old sneakers I have only have laces. I don't know why I need them. You can already see my dirty socks in the front. I've been here since I was five, and they still haven't gotten me new clothes or sneakers. And the only bath I get is when they wake you up with a bucket of cold water.

The people and kids tell me that im never getting adopted because I'm stupid and ugly and weak. Sometimes I think they're right. In the morning, I truged with the other orphan girls to the dirty old cafeteria. The same boy everyday since I came here, Robert Mason, picks on me while I eat the disgusting food.

"You're so stupid, I bet you don't even know what your eating is called!" He spat. I sighed, I learned over the years that I had to deal with this because this was what my horrible life deserved. But today seemed different. One of the older girls stomped over to my table. Oh great, I thought, she's coming to pick on me too. "Hey! You leave her alone! You're not much smarter either!" She shouted.

Robert had fear locked in his eyes. The girl was very much taller then him and much more muscular too. He nodded his head and scrambled back to his table. But I didn't fear this girl for lose reason, I looked up to her. "Thank you!" I said. And I hugged her. Hugging was not known in this orphanage. Nobody had the happiness to hug or thank one another. But this girl didn't mind. She crouched down and hugged back. I could sense a smile in her face. Then she returned to her table, leaving me alone once again.

TIME SKIP TO AFTERNOON

I was in my room, once again. Doing nothing but being bored out of my wits. I used to have a little blankie with me, but the mean headmistress took it away and shredded it. So now I just look out the tiny window, watching the giant oak tree grow slowly. I often wondered what life was outside the orphanage, but I was interrupted by a sharp knock at the door. The snooty headmistress was there, with a disgusted look on her face.

"Come with me." She said coldly. I trembled as I walked with her, excepting the worst to come. When we walked in her office, four guys were there, with happy looks on their faces. I shook in my old droopy shirt. "This is Bethany, Say hi!" The headmistress had a fake smile on her face, and also had a tight grip. "Hi." I mumbled. Looking at the four boys, the all looked different. One had white and black spiky hair with pale green eyes. Another had tall blonde hair, bright blue eyes, and a lip piercing. The third boy had blackish brown short hair, tan skin and warm brown eyes. The last boy was the happiest. With his curly brown hair and dark green eyes. His dimples were showing while he was smiling.

"Hi Bethany! I'm Calum," the tan boy said." And this is Michael, Luke, and Ashton." I gave them a shy wave. "Bethany dear, meet your new fathers." The headmistress said evily. Today was totally different.
