“absolutely not.” I said, darting my eyes between the boy and my own manager who I thought I could trust, “I promised myself I would never do something like this.”
My manager sighed, sinking back in her chair and shaking her head, “Come on, it’ll be good for both of you, both of your fan bases, from two separate genres will start following and buying music from the other.” She said, crossing her arms over her body.
The boy fiddled with his hands before jamming them into the pockets of his sweatpants, “Uh… I don’t know about this,” He finally spoke up, “She doesn’t seem into it, and frankly I’m not into it… I don’t really understand how this will help our bands.”
My manager huffed again and rolled her eyes, uncrossing her arms and standing up, “It’s simple.” She started, gesturing to each of us, “Calum, you pretend to date Y/N, your fans will start supporting her, and her fans will start supporting 5 seconds of summer.”
“But why do I have to do it?” Asked Calum, “No offense Y/N,” he looked at me sincerely.
“But why me!!?” my manager imitated Calum, making a face, “The other boys said you would be willing to do it because you thought Y/N was pretty.”
I looked at Calum and smirked, raising my eyebrow. He rolled his eyes and sighed.
I looked at my manager again, “Did Cal’s manager even agree to this?”
“Cal?” Said Calum, smirking, “Are we friends now?”
“Oh please,” I said, “Don’t even-”
“See look," my manager interrupted, "you guys already act like you could be a couple,” she said, “and yes, Calum’s management said if Calum doesn’t agree to this then he’ll have to sit through another power point… I’m not sure what that means but it sounded threatening.”
“Well shit.” Said Calum.
Apparently a powerpoint was not something he wanted to sit through.
“Alright, whatever, if it’s really going to help then I’m in.” Said Calum, putting his arm around me.
I squirmed out of his touch and made a face, concealing my smile.
“Okay,” I said tentitively, “But if we’re going to do this we have to be REALLY convincing. LIke, start flirting on twitter, then post a random selfie, then you take a video of me on your instagram… yadda yadda yadda.”
“Yeah, you’re right,” Said Calum, “Let’s trick them all!”
He put his hand up for a high five enthusiastically.
I rolled my eyes and punched his hand lightly, smiling.
“Alright Calum Hood, let’s send some tweets.”
Calum jumped up from his seat and ran out of the room, holding out his arms like he was an airplane.
"This isn't going to last," I said to my manager as I got up from my chair, "and everyone's going to know that it's publicity."
"I have faith in you guys," Said my manager, "You're good at convincing." She smiled at me as I turned and left the room.
