*JAY'S POV*
Katy seemed like a nice enough girl. I think she just needed someone to care for her and tell her that they do actually give a damn what happens to her. I can tell that it's been a while since anyone said either of them things to her and actually meant it when they've said it.
But she needs to understand that no everyone is the same. And see that there are some people in the world who know how to treat other people. That some people do know when others are in need of help and are willing to help them if they need it.
"You alright mate?" Nathan asked me as I walked back down the stairs and towards the living room where he was sitting watching something on the TV. I didn't really look at what it was.
"Yeah, I'm alright..." I replied sitting down on the chair.
"You sure?"
"I was just thinking that there are some people in the world who need to be taught how to treat other people and not to assume the worst of people all the time!"
"What do you mean?"
"Just something that Katy said to me earlier about no one caring about her and what happens to her. She thinks that I'm just the same and I'm only going to laugh at her behind her back..." I sighed in reply.
"Do something to show her you're not the same. I think all she really wants is for someone to prove that they do care about her and they don't care what's happened to her before!" Nathan smiled.
I guess he was right.
If I showed her that I wasn't the same then she might actually give me a chance to be friends with her. She doesn't really have many of them and, after the incident in Starbucks yesterday, I understand why she doesn't really like being in the company of other people.
But I'm not that bad once you get to know me.
"How about cooking her dinner, or do you think that would be too much?" I asked.
"Just do something simple and I'm sure that she'll appreciate that. Maybe she might even talk to you a bit more than she is..."
"Like what then?"
"Stick a ready meal in the oven?" Nathan laughed and I laughed as well.
"Thanks for you input there mate but think I'm going to do something a little better than that..."
"Well don't ask me to help. I'm the kid that burns pot noodle, remember?"
"How can I forget about that!"
"Just do what you think she'll enjoy. Don't try too hard but don't make it simple either; I think she'll appreciate you trying to be her friend and actually caring about her!"
"Yeah. I guess you're right, thanks mate!" I replied with a smile as I left the room, heading to the kitchen to see what I could make. Something simple, but not too simple.
I shall see where my culinary creations take me...
*KATY'S POV*
I sat on the bed and looked around. The walls were covered in a white covering with some blue paper around the top for decoration. There was a wardrobe in the corner of the room and some more pictures of Jay, Nathan and three other guys that hung randomly off the wall.
I walked over to the window and saw that, in the garden next door, there was a little girl playing with her dad. She looked happy, like she didn't have a care in the world. It brought a tear to my eye because I remember when I used to be that happy and care-free.
