Nothing in the world could prepare him for what he saw at that moment. Face to face, he met with a pale face that resembled a human. Instead of eyes it had two black holes from where the green mucus was dripping. It's mouth was shaped in a wide smile and Zefon could clearly see all the broken and bloodied teeth, and when it exhaled he could smell it's breath.
Before he could even scream or run away, the monster rushed into him and wrapped its long, snake-like body around him. It squeezed him so hard he lost his breath. He tried to wriggle out of the grip in which the creature was holding him but it was no use. With fear and panic slowli overwhelming him, he looked in the direction where he had previously seen the dark figure. But there was no one there anymore.
No, it can't end like that.
The monster opened its mouth and placed its teeth in Zefon's neck. He closed his eyes, unbearable pain paralyzing his body, he could only hope all this will be over fast.
Then a loud, inhuman scream was heard and the monster let go of its grip. Zefon got slammed to the floor and was finally able to breathe again. He caught his breath and opened one eye to see what was going on. Two similar monsters were fighting and scurrying in front of him. With their tails waving around, they broke every tree around them.
"ZEFON!" He looked around to see where the voice was coming from. Not far away he saw Ambriel running towards him with a sword in her hand. He glanced over at the creatures, which were busy with the fight, slowly picked himself up to not attract their attention, and step by step began to move away. He covered the wound left by the monster's teeth with his hand and tried to stop the bleeding.
Although it was evening and the sun had not yet completely set, it was already dark in the forest. Zefon didn't look back or look under his feet, his only goal was to get to Ambriel as fast as he could. Ambriel, however, suddenly accelerated: "WATCH OUT!" she yelled and began to flap her arms: "ZEFON RUN!"
A loud roar shook the floor. One of the monsters swung its tail and managed to hit Zefon. He flew into the air and hit a tree a few meters away. In an instant he picked himself up and wanted to run away but he felt dizzy and fell to the ground. He heard Ambriela's voice approaching and getting louder and louder. But the roar was getting louder and louder as well. Probably the monsters noticed him and now they are coming for him. He turned his head to the side and watched the creature with a hazy gaze as it slowly but steadily made its way through the trees. Even if Ambriel manages to get to him in time, they will both end up in the stomach of this monster. What a shameful death.
Someone ran up to him and rolled him over on his stomach. Zefon's gaze was foggy and he didn't see who was trying to help him but it was definitely not Ambriel. This person had icy cold hands and her hair was fluttering in the air, she was also much shorter. She touched his shoulder and looked at his wound. How did she even see anything in this darkness?
She ran her fingers over his wound a few times, making Zefon flinch and try to pull away. "Be good now," she whispered, ripping off a piece of her sleeve and began to bandage his wound. It won't last for long but it's better than nothing. When she finished, she helped him get up. They stumbled together and almost fell a few times, but they managed to reach Ambriel: "Zefon! Zefon can you hear me? "
Zefon raised his head and smiled at her, "Loud and clear."
"You are so in trouble for this!" she looked at the person Zefon was leaning on. At first glance, she thought she was looking at her warrior Remi, but the person in front of her had hair fluttering in the air like fire, pale skin, almost white and icy cold look. From each eye came 2 purple lines that stretched all the way to the lower jaw and almost glowed in the dark. She could have sworn she was looking at the demon, in his true form, but what if that person had just saved Zefon. Was it all just a trick?
She looked around. Why did the monsters stop all of a sudden? The creature stood not far away, practically able to grab and devour them in a second. But no, it stood there. Still. "Why ... aren't they attacking us?" she asked, turning her gaze to the demon who was still supporting Zefon.
Kanai smiled and showed her sharp teeth: "Because I'm not letting it do so."
