Night descended upon us way too quickly. The sun fully sank over the horizon by the time we were finished with fortifying the castle walls. Team Crafted group look exhausted, yet pleased with their work. ASFJerome and BajanCanadian both hi-fived each other, Mudkipz and Deadlox promised to buy everyone drinks after this was over, and Sky began to sharpen his budder sword.

Captain Grace Helbig stood on top of the walls with a league of archers at her side. Commanders GassyMexican and Shane Dawson waited on the ground, their knights standing behind them. Chey and the Late Nighters were positioned on roof tops, willing to help the knights when it is needed. The Kings and Queens awaited at the front of the castle, ready to launch the final attack when necessary. We had agreed to let the rulers hold the diamond, for who had more hope than the people who were leading their kingdoms into battle?

I observed everything from on top of a building’s roof. At my side were the Shadows and my familiar family of thieves. I bet my anxiety was showing, for Vanoss laid his hand on my shoulder and gave it a comforting squeeze.

“We can do this,” he says reassuringly.

“I know we can,” I say.

A thud behind us caused me to turn around to see the Smosh Crew behind us.

“What are you doing here?” I ask, hostile.

“Easy, Raven. We’re here to help just this one time. After this, we can go back to being enemies,” Anthony said.

“...Ok. You can help. We need more people on those rooftops over there,” I gesture to the countless roofs behind us. “Offer help to the knights in case if they’re in trouble.”

“Got it. Let’s go guys,” Ian says as they all turn and leave our roof.

“Do you trust them?” Terrorizer asks.

“Not at all, but we need more help if we are to win this,” I say as I turn my attention back to the soldier filled streets.

Across the street from our roof was the Our Second Inn. Many of the citizens were hiding there, for the inn had an emergency cellar to protect them. The citizens that weren’t hiding were helping in any way that they can, such as serving as medics, or making homemade weapons.

A nudge at my leg caused me to look down. I see Racingcatz standing next to me, his brown eyes flashing in the darkness. Racingcatz, Betty (King Ken’s Corgi), and Maya and Edgar (King Pewd’s Pugs) were going to act as messengers throughout the battle. Their job is to carry news to the other battle sections while the battle is going on. I rub the tabby cat on the head, which he replies with a purr.

I glance to my left and right, seeing the people who I had grown so close to over the last few days. Ohm reaches for my hand and gives it a squeeze. We will make it out of this battle alive, I think determinedly.

The clocktower on top of the white castle rang suddenly, declaring that it was the dreaded hour: 12:00. The kingdom was suddenly quiet, so quiet it seems that even the slightest noise will be the death of us all. Everyone gripped tightly to their weapons or to their loved ones, scared to let go. My breath hitched in my throat and my heart raced, a result of my current fear. Come on… We know you’re out there. Show yourself.

“ODISSE! ODISSE’S COMING OVER THE HORIZON!!” the nightwatcher, Troye Sivan cried out from on top of the castle walls. “ITS GOT AN ARMY! OVER A THOUSAND MEN AT LEAST!

I grip my knife in my hand, anxiety and determination flowing through my veins. My shoulder began to throb painfully, but I tried my best to ignore it.

“Steady!” Grace told her line of archers. “Pull… Aim… FIRE!”

The archers fired off multiple arrows and, by the sound of some cheering, it looked like they hit their targets. Thudding sounded on the doors, which meant that some managed to get through the archers.
