It's a cool spring evening and you and Vinnie are walking in a field looking for the perfect spot to have your picnic. You had been planning this date for a while and with everything that had been going on in your busy lives recently, you can't say you weren't excited to finally have some time alone with your boyfriend.
"I think this is a good place," you say, pointing to a flat patch of grass.
Vinnie goes to lay down the picnic blanket and sit the basket down. He then sits down on the blanket, reaching back up for your hand and pulling you down so you are sitting between his legs with your back against his chest.
The cool spring wind gently blows at his hair as he takes his hat off and places it sideways on ur head tilting your chin up to kiss you. You smile into the kiss and succumb to the peace you feel when with him. After a while you pull away from the kiss and reach for the picnic basket to take the food out. inside you have two french bread sandwiches, two waters, two juices, and a container of different fruits and cheeses.
You hand him a sandwich and a water then take your own leaning back against his chest to look out over the field of flowers yall are in. A comfortable silence surrounds y'all as you eat and forget about all the stresses your busy lives have put on your shoulders.
After Vinnie finishes his sandwich he places the trash back into the basket and buries his face into your neck, planting gentle kisses to every piece of skin he can find, whispering quiet "I love you"s.
You giggle saying, " stop, vin, that tickles!"
Vinnie laughs at that and then moves his hands to your ribs to actually tickle you. you scream and attempt to get away but his hold on you is too tight. He tickles you until you can't breathe and y'all are both laughing too hard to do anything.
After a while of content silence Vinnie takes his phone out and puts on some music. It's slow and you recognize it from one of y'all's shared playlists. for a while you just sit there, relaxing in the calm late summer evening until vinnie stands up suddenly causing you to fall back a little. he chuckles at you before extending a hand and saying, " wanna dance?"
You smile up at him before grabbing his hand and pulling yourself up. you wrap your arms around his neck and lay your head on his chest as he rests his hands on your hips. you spend a few minutes gently swaying to the music playing from his phone before he speaks up.
"I'm sorry we haven't been able to spend a lot of time alone as much recently," he says sincerely.
" It's fine vin. I've also been busy, it's not completely your fault. I'm glad we can spend time now, though."
He hums quietly to the song before placing a lingering kiss to the top of your head and whispering, " I love you, angel"
" I love you too, vin," you say, pressing a kiss to his collarbone, then turning your head back to rest on his chest.
"Angel?" Vinnie says above your head.
"Yea," you reply, tilting your head up to look at him.
"Look at the sun set," he replies pointing behind you and looking over your head
You turn around in his arms gasping at how pretty it looked. The sky was a mix of pinks and oranges and purples and blues. Vinnie chuckles before pulling you to sit back on the blanket, this time facing the sunset.
"I think it's time we head home," Vinnie says next to your ear after a while once you shiver slightly.
"No I wanna stay" you sigh, wrapping yourself tighter around him.
"We can get ice cream on the way home if you want," he adds.
At that you jump up exclaiming, "Ok i'm ready to go"
He laughs before folding the blanket up and putting everything back into the basket. He picks up his hat that had fallen off when he was tickling you and places it backwards on your head. He then grabs your hand as y'all make your way back to your car.
