Chapter 2 - Unexpected Tutor

"The powerhouse of the cell is the mitochondria..." Mr. Hertz lectures on. Ducky is trying hard to pay attention, but she hates writing notes down. And it's especially hard when Mr. Hertz is standing right there.

BRIIING

Ducky snapped out of her fantasies when the bell rang.

"Ducky Sauce! You need to stay behind because I noticed you didn't write a single word down from my lecture," the man requested.

A girl smirked, "Who has a name like Ducky Sauce?"

"Oh, sorry Mr. Hertz...of course I will," she sighed, ignoring that girl's comment. Oh no! How will I stay in the same classroom ALONE with 😩🥰Mr. Hertz?!👅🥺 I couldn't even act normal on the first day of school. This is gonna be a disaster.

Mr. Hertz sat on a desk next to her and reprimanded her, "You should pay more attention in class, Ducky. I can see your passion for science."

It was good advice, but even that was difficult to listen to when she couldn't help but focus on the way his eyes shone under the lights above.

"So what block is next for you?" He asked.

"Resource...?" She didn't know where he was going with this.

"Perfect! I'm having my planning block, so I can supervise you while you copy down the notes you missed."

Great...

Ducky didn't know what Mr. Hertz was thinking. How could she possibly focus when he was constantly staring at her with his piercing brown eyes.

"Ah, ah. You need to focus again." He started walking towards Ducky. "Look, you messed up here." He pointed at the page where she accidentally wrote 'the chloroplast belongs in the animal cell.'

Ducky suddenly drops her pencil and leans down to pick it up. To her utter horror, Mr. Hertz leans down to grab it as well. Their hands brush against each other and she almost squeals.

BRIING

The bell rings and Ducky realizes that resource was finally over.

That felt forever! How could that be only 45 minutes?, Ducky wondered.

She scrambled out of the classroom hurriedly.
